The weak link is the drive chain in the transfer case. Each time you put it in a bind it stretches some. Eventually it will become loose enough to slip on the gears. Don't operate in 4X4 unless you need it. Folks have been driving on snow for over 100 years now with 2wd vehicles. You only need 4X4 in rare situations to get out of a bad spot. It isn't meant to be used continuously even on snow.

At various times I've been here, on the Wrangler forum and the F-150 forum. At first I just thought that Wrangler owners were idiots. But I've seen enough of these posts now that I will NEVER purchase another used 4X4.

Thanks all. I know "if it don't fit, don't force it". For those of you who are worried, i appreciate that. I'm not wrenching my wheel to cram it in tight spaces continuously. I'm saying that while in 4h now, the wheel feels stiffer to turn now then at the beginning of winter. I'm not familiar enough with truck transmissions to know if it was the result of a transmissuon oil of some sort that needed change(transfer, differential....).

The driving conditions in my town have sucked for the last month. 3' of snow melting very slowly. I got stuck in a taco bell drive through the other day, but the roads were ok....as an example.

Where do you live, add location to your profile.

I live in Canada, we have no snow, it really really sucks.

Well...that explains the snow conditions. I think it's going to be July before I can get the boat up to Paulina this year. Hell... probably be close to that before i can get it out of the garage! :annoyed:
