Maybe try a different color? I mean I'd drive quite a bit to pick up a 4x4 that was in the same condition as my current truck. I'd even drop an extra $2-5k on top. I drove over two hours just to pick up my taco. It was well worth it for the price they were asking.

@ahspurlock this may be a dumb question but I'm still new to the game. If I find a rear axle with E Locker, will I be giving up the Auto LSD feature on the factory axle I have now or will the axle swap have both the Auto LSD feature and E Locker

Been searching this site. Want to find one that's affordable, similar mileage to mine, and close enough to drive and pick up. When I search for it I need to search for 4x4 rear axle with locker or 4x2 with E Locker. In future would like to do 4wd conversion so want to buy the axle that will work now and later

both will work but you'll find them more on the 2wd and with 3.73 gears

Noted. It seems the cost will be comparable to do either one. Benefit of axle swap is that I could do the work myself. I'll keep looking. Thanks for the help

My buddy Mike @luka has done it also. He has a build thread somewhere too.
The nice thing about prerunner to 4x4 conversion is that the trans crossmember doesn't hang down as low as the factory 4x4.

So is there a parts list somewhere on here that lists all the needed parts for the conversion? Could use a checklist to start marking off parts as I am able to find them

But is the crossmember as rigid & tough as the Tacoma OEM 4x4 model? Does that even matter?
