Look up the vin, or check the 4wd controller behind the glove box. Sticker is red for e locker, blue for non. If you want to swap an e locker, You can modify the housing of an lsd. Sounds time consuming. I would swap a full axle if I were you (I say this because that is what I did). But make sure you have the right 4wd controller first.

Sorry but this is false about modifying the axle housing, that only applies to the older axles. The newer non elocker axles with the 8" ring gear have a totally different housing and bolt pattern that cannot be easily notched to accept the actuator.

Good advice about the VIN and 4wd ECU though.

Take the glove box out, it's one bolt. Then look up and you will find a black box. The elocker trucks have a red sticker, non e locker has blue sticker

    Still false info you gave

To put this to bed, your advice only applies to 2004 and older

If you have the e locker housing you might be able to just buy the 3rd/ 2 longer studs

this is correct. Those housings after 2005 are exclusive to the TRD Offroad trucks however. Seeing that he says he has a frankentruck that's been in multiple crashes anything is possible until we see pics of his rear end lol

Sorry but still wrong. Only way is to swap the entire axle housing. You CAN modify the housing but that's fab work so so expensive and involved that cost kills benefit. Much cheaper to go ARB or swap entire axle

I don't think you have done your research. It's not so much "fab" work. Just grinding to make space. Obviously if you're going to pay someone to do either of these your better off just going arb. Do it yourself or don't do it.
