Im at the dealer and I have a TRD Sport 4x4 picked out that I like and the dealer is telling me you cant get push button start in the manual and it doesnt have built in garage door remotes. This is the top of the line with the tech package. Is this true?

I believe the purpose of still having the key is so that you can use the Clutch Cancel Switch as it is intended.

In certain off-roading conditions you can leave the truck in gear and turn the key to get the truck started. If you press in the clutch you might roll backwards.
As far as the garage door remote goes. That is Toyota USA. I live in Canada and my TRD Sport has the garage door opener. I think they should offer it in the States too.

It's dumb. My BRZ was manual and push button.

Yet another reason I stuck with the auto.

I think the Limited has that Mirror but no Manual Trans but you can always buy an aftermarket mirror.

Mine is a PRO, love this truck. You will love the MT with this motor and the 4.3 rear end. That guy doesn't know what he's talking about. If you had to, you could always get your truck then switch out to the PRO rear view mirror with the garage door openers. This motor loves to wind out.

Because Toyota is ran by assholes that give you the bare minimum necessary to make a sale, and not a shred more. Zero other reasons.

What happened to either adhering the ooenor to your window or having it on the visor like the rest of America? When did the lack of built in garage door opener become such a huge issue?

You would have to leave your truck in neutral for a remote start, who's doing that?

    Why?

My previous car was 6MT and had push button start. I could start it in gear all day long. Clutch cancel feature? That's really no different from someone pushing the clutch pedal manually. Not a reason to exclude push button start.

    Toyota just cheaped out.

If you have a smart key which I do not (TRD 4x4 OR DCSB MT) there is a alarm not sure which one Viper maybe where you can start your truck from an app on your phone. You can be in another State or across the Ocean and start it, but the tranny would need to be in neutral.

I agree on the push button start and a manual transmission. My last three sports cars had a manual with push button no issue at all. It's Toyota pigeon holing you into a trim level you don't want. You could always find another manufacturer that has what you are looking for.

I think with the Tacoma the clutch cancel feature was meant for a different reason. I can see how it would apply to a car but with the Tacoma is was for a specific reason. If the truck is in gear and you use the clutch cancel feature and start it, the truck will jump forward. The only way for it not to jump forward is to have it in neutral.
