Indeed the rumors are true. Ive got a guinea pig that's coming available in the next couple weeks. Gather some measurements and then we will begin.

I may lean on some of you for your thoughts. I have a pretty good idea in my head but am always open to ideas from those that have the platform we are building on. I also know there are some small differences form early to later gen1 models. Id be curious to see what those differences are since I may not have all the variations readily available to me during the design.

The biggest problem would be if you're designing off of a 98-00 truck because those years have different frame horns so bumpers made for those wouldn't fit 95-97 and 01-04 (usually bumpers are made for 01-04 and people with 98-00 trucks just cut their frame horns to make the bumpers fit.

Perfect, all 98-00 bumpers come with a fresh new sawzall blade!!

So Toyota went with one design, changed it for 2 years and then back again? Makes perfect sense!!

I would like to think we can make some sort of adapter, Ill have to dig into that a bit more.

    Appreciate the feedback

    Sweet!

Yea the frame deal is the only big one. Just tell em to cut off the horns and provide new plates to weld in the frames that have welded nuts for new studs or new welded bolts. Trail gear is the only company im aware of that has an adapter plate that works with all years of 1st gens with no cutting required and such.

Any ideas on what you'll be doing? Plate? Hybrid?

This for rear too? Wrap arounds? Swingouts?

Spare no juicy detail :D haha

One thing i will say that to me and many sets apart some of the plates is the front edge being beveled. Most are a 90º from the top to the front face. But a beveled edge really makes the difference.

    Case and point, my Elite:

It is a nice difference..Stubble but pleasant.

I am very excited to see what you come up with. I have a double cab that could use some armor in the future....

Thanks for the feedback Monte. Ill take that "beveled" front into consideration, im hoping to tuck a light bar in there, sorta our signature. That could limit space, we will see once I start drawing it up.
I plan to do front and rears, all plate, not so much tube as of now.

Hell yea! If you come for a long time, I can send you to the Big Horns too on a 130mile trip that isn't hard wheeling but man is it fun and super pretty.

Or we can go to Lander.

We can put the armor to the test that's for sure :D haha
