I can get 27+ mpg up to about 29 mpg commuting to work regularly. Here is my mpg from yesterday pulling into downtown.

I have a Double Cab 4x4 Off Road 6cyl auto.

I seems to get 26+ on the way back. I guess a bit more of a decent into downtown.

Maybe this is the "MPG sweet spot" for my truck??

..... 25.1 MPG over complete 235 mile trip (rolling interstate hill in north GA) ... got 25.3 MPG by pencil & mileage.

    ...... 2,000 RPMs ..... 5th Gear (foot easy on pedal to keep speed) ..... 70 MPH ..... 8585 Miles on OD .... V-6 ..... Auto ..... 4x2 ..... A/C clutch on 24/7/365 while engine is on .... air damn ..... hard bed cover ..... no mudflaps .... .. 9 months old .... 3 oil changes ....

Never thought the mileage would get this good in 5th gear on rolling hills on interstate at 70 MPH ...

Yep...ready for "oil change & filter No. 4" before 10,000 .... picky about clean oil and particulate removal in my Taco ... :)

And I never let the Toyota dealer change my oil for free either... I do it myself.

I was coming back from a long road trip (1800 miles, averaged about 20.1 mpg per the computer) and on the long stretch of southbound I505 north and west of Sacramento I played around a bit. I set cruise at 65 mph, then 70 then 55, for about 5 minutes at each speed. Conditions were pretty similar, traffic was light, air temp in the high 40's. Truck is a 2016 TRD OffRoad DCSB 4x4 with auto trans and a shell. Attached is a photo of my mileage, the first 4 at 65, then 7 at 70, and the last ones at 55. As you can see, keeping at 55 really helps mpg. By the way, the reason my average was only 54 mph for that 2:42 trip duration was because the first 45 miles were in heavy snow and freezing rain from Weed to around Shasta Lake, with the first 15 miles from a standstill after refueling in Weed being in 4wd. I averaged 26.3 mpg for those first 45 miles, then picked up the speed to the limit (except for the brief experiment) for the next 300+ till I got home and averaged over just over 21 for the tank.

Sucks, mines a joke without the TSB. DCLB OR automatic. Winter blend the computer says one tank is 16ish the next tank is 17ish and old school paper was 15.8 and 16.2. Back and forth. Fueling from the same gas station. Those are combined numbers. If there is anything that disappoints me with this truck is the mpg. Why even post on the sticker what it might get.

I've done the same, with similar results. I'm averaging about 20 mpg on winter gas.
That is above the combined rating for the manual 4x4. Anyone driving over 65mph doesn't have much chance to attain the hwy mpg rating. I expected this though, as I understand the EPA ratings.

14.3 after 6700 miles! TRD 4x4 and the mileage improves by 0.3 after getting the KO2's put on!!! I love/hate my truck. I drive with a heavy foot but even on cruise control set at 65mph on FLAT I-5 for a full tank I am lucky to get 16MPG. UGH. When I don't need power the rear tires spin out and when I do it can't decide which gear it likes. :-(

TRD 4x4 Double Cab. First week in, (new to me), averaging about 20.1 on my first tank. Mostly flat interstate.

Reading this thread, i'm starting to think i'm doing something wrong...how do you guys get such good mpgs?

I have no idea. Best tank I've had on highway/freeway trips is 21.87 hand calculated. And that was between 65-70mph

Comparing my 94 Ranger to my taco, I'm very pleased with the mileage I'm getting. Mileages have been 20.4, 20.4, 19.8, 19.8, 20.04. Mostly curvy hilly roads and in town, 35-65MPH.

    Ranger:
    Power: 100HP
    2WD
    Weight: 3000lb
    Tires: 205/75/14
Cat removed, lower to ground=less wind resistance
    23MPG

    Taco:
    Power: 159HP
    4WD
    Weight:4000lb
    Tires: 245/75/16
    20MPG

So 60 more HP, 1000 lbs heavier, 4WD vs 2WD, 100-160mm more tire on the ground, pushing more air. 3MPG penalty. I don't think I could ask for more without some kind of engine/cylinder shut down/hybrid technology. Plus we are on winter gas so -2MPG ish vs summer blend.

You are getting the exact combined fuel econ it is rated for. Drive no faster than 55 if you want higher.

Sorry if this has been asked and answered I couldn't find it...

Are people seeing a decline in "Miles to Empty" after 10k+- miles? At first when I would fill up full it would show 385 miles to empty. It then went to 373 when I filled up and now its down to 353 when I fill up. It doesn't seem to get any less MPG or run out of gas faster, just weird that it changes.

DCSB 4x4 sport, bed cover, lifted, air dam removed, c-rated 275 75 17s. I'm averaging 20 mpg. Was getting 23.5 stock.

Edit: this is mixed driving. Surface streets, freeways, stoplights, etc. Speeds up to 75, but mostly below.
