Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
They are hard to come by and often expensive. Every now and then PSU will have one in their ebay store. They go quick!

No kidding. I got lucky and was looking through this warehouse where a guy buys Lots at auction from schools, business, etc. clearances. Mainly metal desks, office chairs, nothing too exciting. He had 2 of these and 5 or 6 tanker desks. I really wanted a vintage tanker but he had them already spoken for. A guy in the bay area takes the old tops off and puts a big slab of wood on top, live edge, glossy finish, and resells them for an obscene amount of money.

The library cabinet weighs a ton and they used a forklift to get it in my truck. I had to remove all the drawers and con a neighbor into helping me unload it. For $300 I wish I'd bought the second one and then resold it. I've since gone back to the warehouse but he is gone. Too bad. Not many places like that around.

Hey guys, having vinyl fencing installed next week in the backyard. The contractor is coming out this weekend for the quote.

Do you have any recommendations as far as what to look out for to ensure it is done right? As with most things, there is usually a couple ways to do something, but only 1 right way. I don't want corners cut, but not sure what best practices are.

    TIA

I wouldn't over think it...if a company that puts in fencing everyday fucks up, they wouldn't be in business. They probably have tricks and techniques we would have never thought of. Most DIY people fuck up fences, so your already on the right track by hiring a company. BTW...vinyl...not cheap at all:)

    Thanks Tim.

Luckily it will only be installed on one side of the yard, maybe 60 linear ft. Also lucky my neighbor and I are splitting the cost.

No prob, cool you are spitting the cost. Wish I had neighbors like that...when I had neighbors:) If you were installing yourself I would have info for you...then OZ would have chimed in with a better way than mine...I am almost positive;)

Last couple pics of the reinforcing as we started building the inside forms today

Typical 5/8" redi rod for holdowns in locations where we have adequate depth of concrete for embedment ( 5/8" redi rod with 1/4" steel , 2 1/2 x 2 1/2 square washer at bottom , 30" concrete embedment )

And the sacred shearwall holdowns , 1" Simpson shearwall embedment anchors for the right hand panel and typical 5/8" redi rod anchors for the panel that is 90 to it

Top picture is 2 different walls one going in each direction

Bottom the 1" are about 3'6" apart , the 5/8 panel 90 to it is 8' long

Looks like tedious work, I would be jamming out to Leonard Cohen the whole time...trying to forget what I was doing.

Its not too bad , my main concern is not forgetting something like an electrical conduit sweep or plumbing pipe that needs to be cast into the wall or putting a seismic anchor in the wrong spot
