I like the look of the 3rd gen Taco but prefer the interior comfort, ride quality and power of the 4R. If Toyota had put the build quality, motor and seats from the 4R in the Tacoma, I would have been sold on a 3rd gen:

Congrats and totally agreed. They would be selling like hotcakes even more so if they had put 4R powertrain in the 3rd gen, oh well, can blame EPA, changing consumer, etc. Sad to see you leave you had a nice 2nd gen build.

Wonder why Toyota put that motor in the 4R & FJ but not the Taco!? It has so much more power

You know we love our 4Runner trail premium. And don't forget that it's made in Japan ;)

Nate, the fixed link on the sway bar acts as a pivot point, so when the hydraulic cylinder unlocks as one side goes up, it actually seems to push the other side down. So it kinda acts like a solid axle. you would have noticed that if you installed your lift yourself :p

I couldn't agree more. I have a 16 4 runner and it's so much nicer inside !!! After having 3 2nd gen Tacomas. I didn't hesitate buying a 16 but after 3k miles I traded it in. I hated the interior size and the gutless motor. I got lucky though My dealer got a sweet 06 crew cab tundra in with only 14k on it. I got great trade in for the Tacoma though.

I have a second gen taco that I love, but if I had to buy new, I would get a 4runner in a heartbeat over the 3rd gen taco. I think the aesthetics are similar in some ways amongst both the 4runner and the new tacos, but for some reason the 4runner screams at me look wise while the new taco doesn't get me excited that much. Also, it seems the 4runner isn't plagued at all by the iffy power train that the new taco has.

I love my 4Runner, but not the power. Thing is weak because it's so much heavier than the 2nd gen. My second gen was way beefier.

    Still love it though!!
