With a stock catback, and stock headers, it should keep drone and rasp minimalized. However, your engine is different, and so are the headers. Therefore the acoustics will be different. Not to fair a comparison.

Since I think that URD gives a discount to TW members I could just tell my wife that I got it on sale and I could not pass up a great deal. Maybe that would work.

Thanks, I appreciate that. My wife and I have been married for over 41 years and I would like to stay that way. I once said that I wanted to buy a motorcycle and she said no problem, but she would spend the same amount of money on anything that she wanted. Needless to say, i did not buy that motorcycle. I do have some MDK (mama don't know) money I could use but do not want to be busted over a lot more noise or smell. I have been a pilot for almost 50 years and like Goose once said, I have a need for speed.

BTW, you have a great build. How hard is it to start with the light weight flywheel?

 

With the stage 3 clutch and the flywheel it took some getting used to, but clutch engagement is very crisp and I can feel the extra bit of acceleration from the flywheel. Clutch engagement translates to about half an inch of pedal movement now, so slipping takes much more fine control, but I'm used to it now and really enjoy it. No problems offroad either.

 

If for whatever the reason, there is always the option of adding in a resonator, to alter the tone. As close to the outlet flange of the y-pipe has the greatest effect.

The 1GR with unequal length headers, and URD y-pipe, has a Nasty rasp in the 2k range. Many modders became proactive in the fight against the gargling rattle can rasp. A resonator where mentioned, was the answer. In conjunction with the muffler.

 

Have considered this myself a few times. Will probably add one in when I finally get around to installing headers and get the exhaust system welded up instead of just clamped.

Nothing new unfortunately. The mods of life have cut infront of the priority line.

Just the last one, which I still haven't shared.

Of recent, an internal component of my Aero Turbine muffler decided it missed Christmas. Now it jingles around with the persistance of a Salvation Army donation clerk.

 

Then there is the E36 Bimmer of mine which has been taking time. Pryed the head from its grasp, to find that all of the exhaust valves are bent.

Previous owner which had the engine over heat, had the head machined. Shop doing the work didn't account for the material taken off, and didn't get a head gasket thick enough. It was just baaaaarely too thin a gasket.

 

Just grab some channel locks and straighten em out then put a thicker gasket on... Problem solved

 

Were it so simple. New valves on order. Need an oil pump nut, head gasket, and vanos repair parts.

Other side project. Modded my lawnmower. A little fiddling necessary, but runs on vapor.
