Sorry if there is a thread for Canadians and warranty prices.

I'm pretty sure this warranty with four years is a new thing for toyota. I'm wondering what guys/ girls are paying for this.
Looking at the 7 year platinum.
    List price is 2900.
    Comes with
    4 year maintenance
    7 year bumper to bumper
    Plus some other stuff..

What did you pay in canada?

Pretty sure it's only 3 years of scheduled maint... and 120,000kms for this price.

They said $2900 and offered it to me for $2600 on the day of purchase.
I ended up getting it for $2000 due to the finance lady being a total ass and the GM gave me a deal by way of an apology.

You got like maybe 6 oil changes for $2,000.00....:eek::eek::eek:
Might be a good price in BC, but in Ontario, that is about $1,700.00 too much...(if you do it yourself).. Doubt that they will even check or fill your tranny or lube the U joints and fill up your low rear end...
They must have been looking out the window with binoculars and saw you coming...!!
Sorry man...I can't help it... So called "extended warranties" are BS...

That's cool, no need to apologise... I don't feel fleeced by any means

I wouldn't be doing my own services and have a decent relationship with the dealer that will be (not the place that I bought it)... by all accounts it's about $800 of servicing that I've pre-paid for so I got the extended warranty for $1200. It might be BS but it's peace of mind for me and for about $300/year I'm ok with that...

I didn't get extended warranty for these reasons:

    1. The three year bumper-to-bumper will be plenty to address any factory defects.
    2. In the big picture, it's a very bare bone, utility vehicle. There's little to nothing innovative; nearly all options have been in production in other makes/models for decades. Slim chance of anything breaking.
    3. It's a Toyota. Parts are reasonably cheap, and you don't need specialized tools to DIY anything that may be excessively priced at the dealer.
    4. As soon as you start doing any mods (and you will), the dealership will start playing games to get out of warrantying anything they can.

This isn't a BMW where each leaking headlight is $2000, and replacing blown turbos is a 17-hour labour job. Standard warranty is plenty IMO.
