legs bump steering wheel getting in

Good luck. That did the trick for me, but I'd still rather have a real tilt option.

 

I find the 3rd gen easier to get into then the 2nd gen. I am 6 feet tall and have yet to bang my knee or hit the steering wheel. I find that on the 2nd gen I have to duck my head in order to get into the truck.

 

Ok, obviously I'm no dummy and I can see where the adjustment for your midrange speakers is at (MID), and where you set everything to (PL) --polka or (R) -- rap, but how do you go forward and backward in tracks on your ipod? Is it the paddles?

 

I bang my knees a lot in my truck. Don't buy one. I like to have an uncommon truck not an F150. Oh, and the auto transmission still acts weird...but in a different way...even after the TSB. Even worse, the wife keeps calling it her truck.

 

Yellow button on the bottom right. FW/ACK. Press to go forward, hold to go ack. The people who made the label forgot the B.

 

Buy a huge lift so your wife has trouble getting into it. Then it's your truck again.

 

The mystery of my truck entry would still have nothing to do with how much I like this new gen, and if someone had told me I would have to problem solve my approach angle with the focus of a Buddhist monk, I would have still bought. It's not a big deal. I just can't make sense of where the hiccup is and why my body is confused getting in. And I'm genuinely interested.

 

Better than my wife's uncle and his new Canyon. the 4x4 dial is right by the door under the steering wheel. He turns it getting in and only notices it's turned on when he goes to turn. He's probably going to bind up continuing to turn with 4x4 on. It's a bad design and a real flimsy little dial. But he does have adjustable seats.

 

One leg only has half the issue.

Thank you for this post, I never knew my 2017 Tacoma's steering wheel would telescope so now I feel much better getting in and out. Does the CD player really hold 6 ?May have to purchase 5 more Uncle Ted CD's !!!

It is a bit awkward Cab height is very short from floor to roof. I guess thats the price for good ground clearance while keeping a reasonable roofline height. I find that if I stick my right foot in way up in the foot well past the gas pedal, and then slide it, its fine. It the high floor and relatively poor adjustment range on the seat and steering wheel I think. I'm use to it now. Not a PITA, just different.

 

myself being six one with long legs, have not had a problem getting in and out of my 2nd gen.I wish the wheel actually went down further then they do. but I'm used to it now. just acclimate yourself to your surroundings and figure it out

I'm 6'2 I'm constantly smacking my shin on the dash left of steering wheel. It sucks but I'm use to it

I hate getting in this truck. First vehicle I ever owned where I have to get in head first. If I sit my butt down on the seat and *try* to get in that way then I can't get my head past the door frame. And the side steps, wtf are those for? To make it easier to clean the roof of my truck. I'm 5'10" btw.

 

Yep. I do. And for the "don't anyone test drive it anymore" yep test drove it. It was a pain in the ass to get into on the test drive too. Test drove a second gen, no problem, more comfortable. Test drove a 4runner, no problem, more comfortable. I don't know why they did this, air bag debacle perhaps?
Nav sux too. Weird seating position in relation to the steering wheel. Don't understand why they think the steering wheel should sit so low. Other than those 3 issues, truck is awesome. Its just something I have to deal with and get used to. Im 6'2" and before this truck I had a Mini Cooper. Believe it or not the Mini had a more comfortable seating/steering wheel position. But the Mini wouldn't have done Bulldog.
