OK OK, you did it TW. You have been spooked enough to attempt to get my trans fluid level checked.

Reaching out to all the Canadian Taco Owners - specifically those in the GTA. Did you find a dealer that was willing to manually check trans levels or did you have to open a case with Toyota Canada? What did you tell them?

    Thanks,

    JK

My dealer heard about the issue before hand and agreed to check it when I did my service. I made arrangements before I went in. It took awhile because they had to let the transmission temp cool down in order to check it properly. I was 1 litre low. From what I understand it's the models with the tow package. The tow package can comes standard in Canada.
If you are having trouble. Try and get some documentation from the internet and show the dealer.

I'm just not so sure they'll buy it and agree to check under warranty. :(

I've been fighting with my dealer as they refuse to manually check it. I have an open case with Toyota Canada regarding this but the back and forth hasn't been very productive and we have got to a solution as of yet. I'm thinking of proposing the following to them - I'll pay for them to manually check the transmission fluid level and if it comes back full, then fine I'll pay for the service. But if it comes back low, like I've been insisting with the dealership and corporate, then it's covered under warranty. Also thinking of pushing for a full extended warranty as compensation for any potential damage that may have resulted from running in a low fluid condition that they assured me was full. We'll see how it goes.

In the manual under service it says check all fluids. Last time I looked transmission fluid is a fluid.

This that and the other thing.
be ready to pay haha with a proposition like that, even if it is low, they will say it wasn't just to get you to pay.

You can also try another dealer if yours is not giving you the service you desire.

I bought mine from Stouffville toyota and they said they checked it but didn't provide paperwork for it.
So I live closer to the scarborough one, planning on going for a oil change at 2000km (I want to do the first one early) and while there have the TSB for transmission and the trans level checked.

Hoping they don't give me a hard time about it.
I want it in writing that the levels were checked.

My GTA dealer manually checked the transmission fluid upon request under warranty. Told them that there was a delay in shifting from reverse to drive and wanted fluid level checked and the TSB done. Fluid level was fine. TSB fixed the delay.

Dropped my 2017 off to get transmission level checked along with a few other things. Got "could not duplicate" and no level check.
Decided I'm just going to check it myself so I know it's actually done.
Will it give another try with the other issues and TSB update sometime in the future.

I offered that deal to my dealership and they agreed. They checked it and said it was fine, but I don't know what method they used. Since they only had the truck for a couple hours, I suspect they didn't do it properly.

Realistically, I don't care, because the truck shifts fine, and I've got paperwork confirming that they checked and ok'd the fluid level. If there are ever any tranny issues down the line, fluid is the first thing I'll force them to check (properly!), and then throw the existing "it's fine" documentation into their faces until they cough up a new tranny.
