A few years ago I bought a magpul AR15 adapter for my 2nd gen, basically it would allow any AR15 pistol grip to fit the auto shifter. Looked good but I slapped it too many times and the threads broke.
Im running a Pro on my MT 3rd gen, works good.

Quick question, those of us with a Manual transmission do not have auto unlock feature am I correct? I was reading about folks setting up the truck so the lights come on as they approach the truck and also unlock as you grab the door handle but I dont seem to have this feature. I assume its a automatic transmission feature like the push button start which we don't have.

I'm sure there's a way to program and Auto unlock in any vehicle, regardless of the transmission type. Lights and door locks have zero to do with what gear you're in. Now if you want a remote start, that a whole other ball game. I've considered it a couple times but as my driveway is at a slant, I refuse to leave the truck in neutral.

I think what's being referred to here is proximity key, which allows you to unlock the vehicle by just being near it and touching the handle, without having to press the unlock on the remote. This of course requires additional hardware. The automatic trans has this. I agree, that feature should not be tied to the transmission at all, from a functionality perspective.

It's sort of inexcusable that we don't get it. My 2013 Ford focus had it, and it was awesome not having to fish around for keys every time you're walking to your vehicle.

Push button start is another thing my focus had, and another thing I wish our manual trans Tacomas got, but I sort of understand the clutch start cancel feature and why they opted to go old school and make us turn a key to start the truck.

Still, I think it's silly that Toyota could not design around an obstacle or two and give us those features.

Don't get me wrong I love my taco, and love it in manual trans. But I miss proximity key and push button start every time I get in the truck.

I love my 2017 SR just for that reason, the old school feel of the 5spd yet enjoying the new school toys (backup cam, bluetooth etc)

    Hey guys,

Anyone else having a clutch pedal creak (3rd gen) that won't disappear? I've lubed what I can see and even brought it to the dealer for them to lubricate - all to no avail. I'm bringing it back in tomorrow, but man oh man is it annoying on a nearly brand-new $30k+ truck. Not just an audible thing either, I can "feel" the creak in my foot which really ruins the driving experience.

    Here's a quick video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l_oBuy9ngRU&feature=em-upload_owner#action=share

Changing transmission fluid is not hard.

The drain will be a big plug centered under the transmission and after you remove it about 2qts will come out. After letting it drip for 10 min or so replace plug and tighten. Filling will not be as easy as you will need a pump to get the new fluid in as there isn't room on the side of the trans to tip the bottle. Harbor Freight has a cheap hand operated fluid pump that will do the trick nicely. A alternative is to remove the shift boot and shifter and simply pour the new fluid in from the top.

While your under there change out your diff fluids also ;)

Do it sound like its coming from the transmission or something in the shifter assembly? Close the door and do it and try to pinpoint if its engine bay linkage or your bearing in the trans.

99% sure it's not in the engine bay. Brought it in today and they immediately ordered a replacement pedal and assembly. Hopefully that just puts it to bed.
