Hope yours last longer than the set I had on my 2500 RAM. I might of gotten 15k miles. Difference in weight should make a difference .

Okay, so I've read through a ton of pages on this thread. 90 percent of my driving is on-road, the only reason I am leaning toward a spacer lift is because I would get a full 3" lift. What is a cheap alternative to give me a full 3" instead of just a 2". Not too concerned with a budget but like I said I'm mainly on road so it will be mostly cosmetic. I have a 16' DCLB sport.

I'm on the same boat. If I do a 3" lift I'll probably go with ReadyLift SST Kit 3"F/2"R.

If I decide to do 4" I'll go with the spindle lift. It'll give me more ground clearance and tire clearance as well.

Can you do a 4" spindle lift with a 4x4? I thought that was only for a 2wd. I've been looking at the low range off road spacer lift. I don't mind spending more money I just want a 3 or 4" lift and I'll run 285's.

Ahh didn't see you had a 4x4...thought it was just a sport. But to answer your question, no. They're made for 2wd tacomas. I was considering that brands but didn't like how thick and ugly the spacer looked not powder coated black. I think a lot of dealerships put on the ReadyLift 3/2 on some of their custom ones. I am running 285/70/17s on just a 2" front spacer and 1.25" wheel spacers on my stock T-Force wheels. No rub unless suspension is flexed coming off like a curb or steep entryways to places.

That is the exact wheel and tire combo I am looking at doing. And I've been wanting to see what the white lettering would look like. I think it looks great. What lift and tire size is this? Looks great, love that blue.

You can do a 4" or 6" spindle on 4x4, but you have to cut the crossmember and install a drop bracket lift kit. 3" max otherwise.

The lift is a Toytec Boss lift and tires are 265/70 you could easily fit a larger tire if you wanted to and thank you I've put a good bit of time into it

Nice, that's the size I was thinking it was. I'm thinking of 275/70 for mine but I liked the toytec and 265s I had on my '15. Plenty of room and no worry about rubbing. Looks good! Thanks for the info.

I know this forum is a complete anti Spacer Lift forum, however a spacer lift can ride even better than some new coil over lifts. I have ran a small spacer for the front to get 2 inches, it rode fine. If you read Toy Tec's faq sheets, they will tell to you that in some cases they do ride better. They also state that there is not more stress on front end components (CV axles, joints, and ball joints) with a spacer lift over a coil lift.
This is a common misconception that is completely false. One thing many people forget is that at the same time they add their lift of choice they also put on new tires. Generally speaking they go from a nice smooth, silky riding road tire to a stiff walled all terrain or mud terrain. The tire has the ability to change your overall ride quality more than the lift did. Most people spend their time in the the truck on the paved road 99.8% of the time. If you choose to do a small spacer up front, go ahead and do it, just don't write about it on here. :)

It really depends on what you're using the truck for. If you're going to mall crawl, then yes, spacers will do just fine. If you want something that can handle some trails, then the wise choice is getting coilovers. If you plan on putting on new tires, especially when it comes to ATs and MTs, then you'd better do some research and expect that the quality of the ride is going to change. This is a given when you alter anything that has to do with suspension.

This is the single stupidest post in the entirety of Tacomaworld.

    http://www.bilsteinus.com/fileadmin/user_upload/user_upload_us/pdfs/Bil_LevShks_WebArticle.pdf (again, and again)

and if Toytec actually said that, they should be 'shamed'. Because they know that's not true. its conceptually not possible for a spacer lift to increase ride quality. Literally the laws and limits of science dictate the impossibility of spacer lifts increasing performance.

Ex: Lifting your truck with spacers is like gluing aluminum blocks to the soles of your shoe, in order to 'get taller' to dunk a basketball. Standing completely still (in Park) you would functionally be taller. Virtually every single other action associated with movement would be impaired beyond reason, and within minutes you would end up hurt.

This is precisely the same concept as a spacer lift. Spacer lifts impose superficial height gains inversely to the cost of performance. It is the definition of a 'zero sum' event. Your suspensions "gains" in height" come directly at the cost to its performance. It is conceptually impossible for a spacer lift to increase performance.

If you are 'lifting' your truck for looks, and not performance reasons, don't do it. The honest truth is you cannot cut costs on your suspension, and a reason so shallow as 'looks' will guarantee lead you to making a bad decision . The suspension is a "system" in your truck that works in conjunction with all the other major parts, and is arguably the most important 'performance' feature on an 'off-road' vehicle, and should be treated accordingly. READ ALOT, and take your time.

BEWARE of any anecdotal evidence you will get like: "I know John Doe and he has spacer lifts on his truck and hes just fine and drove 1000000000 miles on it." or "If you drive (this way) or (that way) you will be just fine with spacers, because its not "hardcore off roading, just mild" or mental gymastics terms like "for my needs i did spacers" because there is no "need" for a shitty lift over doing a job right.

1st off, I'm not a fan of spacers, but where in his post did he claim a spacer lift would 'increase' ride quality or performance?

Is this for real? I even put it in bold for you the first time.

Does that help? It seems pretty explicit, that "thetacorocker" is implying a spacer somehow out performs (" ride even better") a coilover suspension kit..

Its inconceivable that aluminum blocks wedged into a factory suspension could outperform a purpose built coilover set. You don't have to like me to realize I'm indisputably right.
