Diode Dynamics has added another awesome accessory for our Tacoma's!

The SmartTap is a replacement turn signal flasher module compatible with any vehicle using a CF18 (LM449) Flasher. Programming each mode is simple with the help of the included programming guide and the use of existing vehicle controls.

Tap-to-Signal: One-touch signaling is a convenient way to signal to other drivers when switching lanes. Simply tap the turn signal for a series of signal blinks.

Arrival and Departure Modes: When the lock or unlock button is pressed, the surrounding area will illuminate for better visibility when approaching or leaving the vehicle at night. The lighting time can be adjusted from 10-90 seconds for additional illumination, or disabled if desired.

Unique Hazard Functions: The SmartTap™ has built-in strobe, slo-mo and wig-wag hazard functions to help the vehicle stand out when the hazards are on. Apply these functions on their own, together or with the strobe setting for a total of EIGHT unique hazard functions!

Video of the Hazard features - incandescent bulbs - I'll add more videos when the revamped units come in. (All new units shipped from 2/13/2017 are the second Rev of the unit and have all the minor issues squared away)

    PROGRAMMING VIDEO!

It has been brought to my attention that this unit will only work with Tacoma's that do not come equipped with DRL's - This unit only works with CF18 equipped vehicles. Tacoma's have two variations and the DRL uses a larger 12-pin relay.

No DRL - yes this will work
DRL - No it will not

Please make sure your vehicle is equipped with CF18 - which is a 8-pin relay that is located under the driverside dash. If you have the 12-pin blinker relay that is different than CF18 and will not work.

Also LED turn signal bulbs aren't needed for this to work as well.

To purchase them check out diode's website:

Saw this in the 2nd gen what have done thread, and started a thread in the Lighting forum. Not sure if two threads are needed (my mistake). You beat me too it. But this would be a great product for a group buy.

I'm sorry guys - My rep at D.D. told me that I am bound to their pricing and if I discount anything I lose my vendor account with them. Therefore there will not be a group buy for these. You guys can either buy direct from them or through me - eitherway you will still get your part.

I'm really sorry I couldn't be of more assistance. :frusty::frusty:

Looks pretty cool. I could have sworn flashing reds is illegal most places though....

Where I'm from you can only have amber/white flashing in front. Red behind the vehicle is fine.

Has anyone actually installed one of these in a Tacoma yet? Or verified that the Tacoma uses a CF18 style relay for the blinkers? I'm interested in ordering one but only if I can verify fitment.

It is indeed a CF18 - as far as function unfortunately these were released while I as out of town so I have one sitting at my shop just no way to install it since I'm away. I have sold about 10 units so far so I hope someone chimes in with video footage. My buddy has it installed already on his STI and it functions perfectly as described.

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
I'll take one. How do I go about getting my mitts on it?

Shoot me a PM and I can set you up with one!

Its confusing so it's listed under a normal hyperblink fix as seen here:
    https://www.diodedynamics.com/store...05-2013-toyota-tacoma-led-turn-signal-flasher

However in the drop down menu it is where you select smart-tap and it adds it up to the proper pricing. The 10$ unit is the base hyperblink fix however it doesn't work with vehicles with DRL. The Smart Tap on the other hand, as I was told by Diode themselves will work with DRL. Make sure that you select the Smart Tap option if you wish to order through the website! (I do not work for Diode I'm only a master vendor for them).
