Got mine today, posted it in the CAD 3'd gen thread and the WDYDTY taco today? thread.
The cost was $1048 CAD for the canopy + the boot bag, also included in that is $40 US to ship it to Blaine Washington. A bonded carrier (http://www.seawings.ca/) then brought it from Blaine to the Victoria airport for $31. There was also CAD PST/GST totaling $118 charged on the $1000 the canopy alone. all in the total came to just under $1200. If I was to get it shipped directly to my house in Victoria BC the shipping would have been $130+ US.

    As for pictures:!

2 boxes taped together, one with metal parts, one with canvas and boot bag.

Seam Sealer it comes with. Very high-Quality stuff, I have been using it on my tents for years. I really didn't expect to get this brand!

    [IMG] [IMG]
Rails and Tubes on, super easy to install solo and while sick. all the parts snap together with spring loaded pins.

    Front Tensioner Connection.

Rear Tensioner connection + tailflap Bar connection.

The rear flap bar on the left. passenger rail on the right. this was my least favorite part of the system. the bar is hard to get on both sides at once and you rally have to force it. plus the snap clip on the passenger side (seen here) seemed to be a little short. However, I'm sure it will loosen and stretch with time. The rear flap should work without the bar and with the velcro at the bottom of it only, and this may be the route I end up going with.

    [IMG] [IMG]
Install took about 2 hours but if I didn't have to stop and blow my nose every 10 minutes and hack up a lung every 5 it would have taken about an hour. if anyone has any questions about it feel free to ask!

    Photos still don't work.
Is the storage bag worth it?
How easy is it to remove from truck?
Can you lock it in storage position so it doesn't get stolen?
Can you lock it in erected position?

Been thinking of getting one of these for a while and would appreciate the feedback!

    pictures should work now,

I don't know if the storage bag will be worth it, I expect it to stay up most of the time. Softtopper does recommend it for driving with the canopy down or storing it for extended periods off the truck. I figured for $40 I might as well have it.
It's all amazingly easy to remove, 2 cotter rings to remove the main bars and canvas top, then 4 bolts to remove the rails. As for flipping it up and down it moves easily, but you do need to either reach high on it or stand in the middle or it will twist.
You could use a bike lock in its down position to secure it or change the pins to a bolt and nut setup to make it harder to remove.
there are no locks on it like you would have with a hard shell, so if a thief wants to get inside its only a 2 zippers and some snaps. But inside is quite dark and I feel that if a thief truly wants inside something they will find a way.

Thanks for all the effort with the pictures. I've been looking at getting one for a while now.

Thanks, I'm likely going to pick one up this spring (let's hope the CDN $ keeps going up). Makes more sense than a hard top for how often I use it.

de-badged, tint front windows, led interior lights, door sill protectors, led b/up lights, 5" factory step rails, yellow turn signal bulbs, added 4 D ring tie downs. Took off the black vinyl stripes between the doors. Changed the grill - from Custom Car Grills, Finally got a tonneau cover put on. 31" light bar ( white & amber ), tailgate light bar, sunvisor covers ( to hide warning labels ), new bedside decals - still too cold to put them on tho. Flag decals to go on too, again too cold still. Got a 2 switch, switch plate to replace that useless cubby hole to the left of the steering wheel.. still to be installed ( hopefully this weekend ). Upgraded the tires to G/Y Duratracs... loving them, no plowing the driveway !!
I saw on facebook, someone in Tennessee has a 6ft soft topper for sale - 400.00$ plus shipping. It was on the Tacoma World page on facebook. Just a suggestion.

From my understanding the TSB's from the US aren't the same as the ones in Canada, we always seem to lag behind on release dates. Can't hurt to try though.

At the risk of getting roasted here...anyone know where the best place for financing is (experience?) when buying used vehicles not at a dealership (particularly here in Alberta)? I've grown tired of my 2016 Taco (most paid off), and have fallen in love with the new Jaguar F-Pace :anonymous:, plus there is a very nice one on kijiji I'm ogling lol...but prob would only finance $20k pending on rate.

Credit unions. Usually they are a good bet. If you find a good rate you can always take it to your bank and ask them to match. Often they will. You could also try jamming the financing into your mortgage if you're up for refinancing but then of course then you'll get killed on the amortization if you don't pay enough extra a year to cover the cost of financing over doing a normal loan.

All a financing department does at a dealer is run your loan application through several banks plus manufacturer financing. It's not a hard process to do yourself, it's just time consuming. Beware of Internet lenders that seem too good to be true. They're just looking for your information to rob you blind. Do everything you can in person.

Do you have the option of getting a home equity line of credit with your bank? Could probably get something near 3% right now.

If in Alberta, you could sell your Tacoma to us at Mayfield, pending how much you are looking to get for it of course. We can also do the financing for you. If you are looking to finance about $20,000, most likely the rate will be in the 4.49-4.99% as the amount financed is under $30,000.

I just started getting way better mileage on mine as well and just turned over 3k km's. Around 11.8 now but it also warmed up to above 0 temperatures which is why I think it increased. Planning to do my 1st oil change soon.

Yeah, I don't think I would ever accept anything over 3.5%.
I would also hope to get close to $40k for my truck (on kijiji anyways).

I own 2 homes (well, the bank owns over 50% on each lol), but there should be more then enough equity in each to do this I'm guessing??

Ya that should cut it to qualify. TD was doing Prime (2.7%) plus I think 0.5% (or maybe 1%) last time I talked to them about it which was about a year ago.

Use Autotrader in parallel with Kijiji, I have had less tire kickers on there. $40k may be steep.

I've always done the kijiji autotrader double up, and I think my last 4 vehicles were sold on kijiji. My truck is worth $45k+ new, so yeah, maybe $40k is a bit ambitious. Really wish I could dump it into the US for $35K US after fees :D. Ahhh, I can dream.

Well I did my first oil change yesterday at about 4k. Oil was really clean as was filter, no metal to be seen. Not sure if that drain plug is a magnet as I didn't think to test that, but nothing there either. Only beef is the oil dipstick only seems to go on one way and it's very hard to see where the level is as it smears.
