    Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone else has come across this. The past few days, when I'm somewhat aggressive with the throttle I can smell gas from inside the cab. Engine doesn't appear to be running any different from what I can tell though and it doesn't happen if I'm just cruising along.

I can't see any leeks when looking in the engine bay and under the truck, but I haven't pulled things apart to investigate further (nor will I cause I don't know what I'm doing hahaha).

I'm booked in to the dealership for scheduled maintenance in 2 weeks and will bring it up to them, but just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience.

    Cheers

I've never had it in this vehicle, but would get it time to time in a mercury g-marquis I had. It was 12 years old and seals were probably going bad. I was 20 at the time and it was a hand me down beater that wasn't properly maintained so I didn't properly maintain it. I would not smell it it I didn't have heat/AC on or if I had them on with recirculate vs fresh air intake.

We had a bad charcoal canister that cost $500 to fix in a hyundai about 7 years ago. That made it smell like gas in the car.

Maybe bad batch of gas? summer gas mix in cold temps not burning properly/fully? Isn't winter gas mixed with an additive to help it burn more effeciently in cold temps? Maybe that's why it's under acceleration? Batch of gas destined for sunny cali sent up north instead to western CA without winter additives?

There's no fuel around the fuel rail is there? like a leaking injector? Under acceleration it switches to the DI versus port no? so if it was injector, it would be the top row if it was an injector leak?

Charcoal canister isn't in the truck in this case is it?

Vacuum leak would trigger a MIL wouldn't it?

Yeah I feel like there are a lot of possibilities. I'm not overly worried as the truck seams to be running fine. Thanks for the list of things to check though

Will do. Did you ever find out what your issue was, or did you just leave it alone?

I haven't done anything yet. Wait until the 5k service and will ask the dealer to check. It has only 2k miles now :)

I wish mine would develop this problem, a good reason to pick up smoking.

Yup, there was another post about it a couple of months ago. You guys might want to try searching specifically in the 3rd gen section about it. I can't remember exactly when, but there was a thread.

Leaking to the point of dripping on the ground as I recall. I would take it in immediately.
