    So can a Tacoma strut break and cause the suspension to fall on that side?

    I'd say yes, if it lost all its gas or oil (whatever's in there) it wouldn't have anything to keep it up & sag. If the coil broke it would probably sag. If the stem at the bottom were to snap it would probably sag also.

    Exactly. I've actually seen it happen but, my dad was yelling at me saying it wouldn't break. One of my struts blew out last week and has been leaking oil constantly without moving.
