Right on! My wife has already been asking me to behave myself tomorrow b/c we have been asked to leave the last 2 times we have been bowling! That was at least a year ago. As a fair warning, if they have leauge bowling tomorrow they will kick you off of you lane in the middle of a game no matter how many hours you paid for, even if you only have one frame left to finish your game!!

I made some more progress tonight, thank goodness I put the front end in my shop b/c it has been raining all day, we even saw some snow. Once again with the heater blowing, it wasn't so bad. I could have done more tonight if I had the damn gaskets. After work I got a new battery & some new battery cable terminals, got all of that installed. With the exception of a few odd-ball sized ones all of the vacuum line are replaced. I picked up a cheap spark tester while I was buying parts & I got a good spark. I hope my gaskets show up tomorrow, they are all I am waiting on to try & start it.

Wrong!!!! That "filter" on the fuel pump is considered a fuel pump strainer. The actual fuel filter is located under the intake manifold right next to the block and above the starter. There is no good way to get to it... especially on an IFS truck. I've got an 85 w/ 3" of lift and it was still a booger to change that bitch out. The fuel filter on my 3RZ is much easier to get to on my 85 now. It's under the intake as well, but it's closer to the front of the block. Where as the 22RE filter is closer to the firewall closer to the back of the block. Also on the battery cable situation, Advance Auto sells 2 or 4 gauge battery cable for like $1.50 per foot. It has clear casing on it, but my point is... get 10 feet of that and you won't have to worry about top vs side post anymore. Cut the cable to the length that would reach top or side post. He'll, I just bought 15 feet of it and moved my battery to the back of my 4runner.

Ha!! Well, I've lurked for a while over here. Between pirate, ttora, yotatech, marlins, customtacos, and here... it's hard to find time for all if em. Besides, I'm jealous, I remember when I first bought my 85, now I'm almost dine w/ it :(. Another FYI, inspect that battery tray for rust, they're bad about rusting out. Mine has a hole you could put a soccer ball through, literally. I'm gonna weld in some new sheet metal and repaint it. That was my main reasoning for relocating the battery.

A quick search of Napa oniline does show a canister type fuel filter for it......

I never saw it when I took the upper intake off, I bet it is under the lower intake that I never touched.

be sure to have a cupple of extensions on hand when your doing it

and it might be easier (at least it was for me) to take the passenger side tire off when you do it and take that splash guard off and go from that way

Thanks for the advise on the fuel filter & I'll think about giving it to you later.

Dude, I am not sure what you are talking about, but I can tell I won't like it.

I got her all put back together tonight & she fired right up. Ran pretty rough for the first 30 sec.& then smoothed out, maybe a couple of the valves where stuck at first, is that even possible with an overhead cam? I was pretty stoked at how well it ran after that!! :) I let if warm up to operating temp (half way on the gauge) and noticed several issues.

The biggest thing is a pretty bad oil leak on the front of the crankshaft. Once it warmed up I started to notice little fresh oil specs everywhere & traced it down to the acc. belts slinging it off the crank. I think the next thing to do about it would be to change the timing chain. I know it is an issue with the 22re wearing thru. the guides & what ever is wrong, No doubt I will find it in the process, it needs to be done anyway. I am going to price what it cost to do the LCE double roller timing chain vs. stock replacement parts. I know the LCE is not going to be cheap but I need to see what it would cost otherwise & way out the price difference to make a decision.

Also, I have a terrible exhaust leak. It is coming from the donuts on the bottom of the exhaust manifold. It is a cheap & easy fix though & very obvious where it is coming from, I can feel it very well with my hand. This thing is pretty damn loud & the exhaust leak sounds like ass. I'm sure it will sound better once I fix the leak.

The brakes still have NO feel with the engine running, I was hoping that with a little vacuum in the booster that it would have some feel, but there is nothing. I won't be able to test drive it until it has some brakes. I am thinking that it needs a new master cylinder, but I am just going to start by bleeding the brakes & seeing what happens.

I don't think that I will have many days this week that I can work on it, My sons birthday party is at my house this Saturday & I have to clean up my back yard. My wife asked me where I was going to hide my 4runner
