That's actually true. They aren't native. I think the kill/maintenance rate out here, UT, ID, MT, CO, & parts of NM are something like 85%. It's a big problem out here, and people pay good for the pelts too, so it's a win win, especially for ranchers. I didn't say this earlier, but thanks for your service too.

We hunt a ranch near Recluse, WY almost every year. Lots of coyotes out there, even when it seems there's not much for them to live on. Pretty neat watching them sitting on top of round bales looking over their territory.

OK, I have bit my lip long enough. Do you guys really like that Kimber ultra carry that much??? I have owned one for about eight years and I am just not a fan of it, yes it looks sexy as hell. But I just don't like the way it shoots and absolutely hate the way it breaks down. I would take my XDS 45 miles over my Kimber ultra carry, just saying my piece

Your thought process about selling guns baffles me. I always sell to a licensed FFL only, will not sell to anyone straight up without a background. I guess many of your friends buy illegally? If not, you should check out the gun forums, people buy and sell ALOT.

I like my ultra carry ok...it feels kind of big for what the size of it is considering it is a 1911. I say this, but I probably need to shoot more compacts to feel more comfortable. Also doesn't help that my preferred pistol is my 5 inch kimber. I like the way a 1911 breaks down, but I don't know if it is a longer process than your XDS. In regards to how it shoots, is it awkward or anything?

Awkward??? Hell no. The XDS for me becomes one in my hand and handles the recoil much better than any other short 45 I have ever shot, and I've shot alot. it is the freak unexplained gun of the gun world why behaved so well. And I have no problem with how normal 1911's breakdown but the Kimber ultra carry and it's stupid little Allen key breakdown. Is a major pain in the ass.

Oh I meant awkward as in regards to the ultra carry when you shoot it. I assumed you had no issue with your XDS. Mine must be a rather old school ultra carry as it breaks down the exact same way as my 5 inch Kimber. I bought these back in 2006 though.

Now you have to use this stupid Allen key looking pin in the front now. And yes, I found it awkward also

WTF are you talking about? I don't see anything wrong with selling guns. It still has nothing to do with buying guns legally or illegally.

I believe it's only with the ultra carrys . Other companies can make their snubby 1911s come apart correctly, why couldn't Kimber. If you ask me, that's kind of disrespectful to Mr. Browning for going and redesigning his design and still calling it a 1911, (my small bitch, but a bitch the same)
I guess my biggest issue with using that Pin is:
    Try field stripping that!!!!!

I agree with you though there, wasn't the 1911 appreciated for its simple breakdown? To have to use an allen tool would annoy me juse because the original design never intended for it to be there. I wonder if some law took place that Kimber decided to change things up with?

I agree with this. That is a morally sound and responsible way to sell a gun. I don't understand your confusion or your question I guess. Perhaps my coffee hasn't kicked in yet.

I guess I was trying to understand from some of your comments, it sounded like even though if someone passed a background through an FFL that they might still be questionable although they arnt red flagged in a weapons database? Anyway so then the consensus is you advocate selling of weapons as long as its through an FFL right?

Most 3" 1911s are like this because there's not as much "meat" on the slide, so the pin/spring situation is beefed up to handle the same pressures as a longer barreled unit with the same ammunition. Springfields actually have a double thick pin and double spring as well. This is why so many think that the 3" Kimbers and others have such problems with stovepiping, ejecting problems, etc. They talk about this all the time on 1911 forums. Take down is the drawback since it's a bitch. Commanders and 4" guns don't have this problem.

Appreciate the mechanics on the 3 inch. Makes more sense there.

That's correct, but there is an easier way. Out here, we can contact law enforcement and have them run the person through NCIC database to check them out. The gun shops can do this too, usually for a small fee. The Sherriff's dept will usually do it for free if you give them a day or so. I'm not sure what the rest of the country is like, but they are civil servants, and likewise, will usually do this to protect both parties involved in the transfer. Also, if there is a checkmark next to a recipient's name, or an outstanding warrant or something, they want to know about it. It's just good business for everybody.
