Is it stable at highway speeds without the bracket?

I would say yes without a doubt. I think you're more likely to find the head of snorkel shift up and down then the body/arm to be affected by high way driving and that's even in windy conditions

I'm only slightly disappointed that with all this mod talk nobody has suggested a BFH, even once.:stirthepot:

Yeah, with the supplied intake you shouldn't have a problem without the bracket. When I put on the precleaner to deal with wet/sloppy mid-atlantic snow I noticed it moving around a lot more and decided to anchor it with the 3M tape. I ended up bending the bracket to match the A-Pillar to snorkel using a 21mm socket and vise.

Lol. You're really starting to spoil all the fun. You'll most likely need it for the elbow into the sleeve through the fender wall to the main intake sleeve.. if that makes sense

I ended up making relief cuts 90 degrees apart to get through that part of it.

Ah. Clever. I just gave it a few taps and a little water and soap around the elbow and it slipped right in

The Enginaire listed at the bottom of the page in the "Products Discussed in this Thread". If you get that one pay attention to the discharge port on the upper section of the unit. That should face towards the rear.

I highly recommend that type of inlet cover or at least a nylon stocking to disperse the splash before trying to do any of this:
