I have 2014 TRD Sport. Is there any reason to upgrade the suspension? Seems like stock Bilsteins are pretty good but always looking for improvements. Is there an upgrade that people like? I don't do a ton of off road, mostly city driving.

    Thank you.

    Too few to list.
Welcome to the site. Search Bilsteins 5100. It's cheap and effective.

thanks! That's one reason I posted, wondering if the 5100's are an upgrade from stock and worth the money.

    Some stuff...
If you're hardly ever gonna venture off road and/or don't want larger tires and wheels, stick the $ into something else. My .02

This! Unless you are wanting to lift it, there's no reason to replace it. I have the same truck (2013 TRD Sport) and wanted a lift for larger tires so I did 5100's and new springs. It rides basically like stock just higher.
The only improvement you will see is if you are willing to drop $3k-4k on nice adjustable bypass shocks which would be way overkill for city driving.

If I go with the 5100's for a 3" lift do I need the 3" lift springs also or can I use stock springs with the 5100's to get same height!
    Thanks!

I belive the 5100's clip only goes up to 2.5" lift with the stock spring. For 3" lift you'd need a new set of springs, giving you some lift, and using a combination of new springs and the 5100's to get 3".
but since you are 4x4 you will probably have some cv axle issues... and also with 3" of lift you might need new Upper control arms to get a correct alignment as well...

thepolarbear is right. At the max you might see 2.5" on the front with stock coils. Likely less than that on a 4x4. Although I don't recommend running on that setting. I got the Toytec kit which included new coils so I don't have to have the 5100's on the top setting.

On a 4x4 and presumably DCLB, you will need new coils and 1/4"=1/2" spacers to get a full 3" of lift. You will also need an extra leaf or blocks in the rear to level it out. Extra leaf will be stiffer but if you carry anything in the box ever (especially winter weight) you will want this as the stock leafs tend to sag after a few years.

The closer you go to 3" the more you run the risk of problems. I lucked out and did not need to get new upper control arms and still have perfect alignment. But only just! I have no doubts that my cv axles and other parts like control arm bushings will wear faster now. But that's the price you pay when you start modding.

Thanks for the info, I already installed a leveling kit, spacers in front and blocks in back, but it didn't level truck like it was suppose too so was gonna go with 5100's and new coils to see if I can get front up another 1" or so to level it and take spacers out. Also I shimmed cv axles so they are fine as is now. Cheers!

Bilstein 5100s are the same internally as the 4600s that are on your truck. No reason to replace them with that. If you want a smoother ride, you can get Fox adjustable coilovers but just adjust them for stock height. That'll set you back $1,100 and will have a much better ride than stock.

EDIT: Pair those with some wheelers off-road superbump bumpstops. It'll be like riding on a cloud.
