Hey guys. I recently got a good size dent on the side of my truck from someone hitting it with their door. Its a little bit bigger than the size of a quarter.

Any tips on removing it? I don't want to go and pay for it to be removed.

Not for a quarter sized dent.

Unless your plunger is quarter sized.

I would personally recommend hammering the dent out the with the SOB's head who put it there.

I saw something about using dry ice? I don't know if that's good for the paint though

Personally I would call around to reputable PDR companies and go with the best quote - as long as they are licensed and insured. I've had dents the size you are speaking of repaired by PDR guys for $50-$75 range before - and I've seen other people attempt to do dent repairs themselves and end up in worse shape than they started in.

If you do attempt to do the repair please (for better or worse) update us on your progress and attempts/results. I wish you the best of luck and hopefully someone else can chime in with better suggestions if you are insistent on doing yourself!

What about a reputable paintless dent repair service? It is tough to beat them and the cost is reasonable.

I had PDR on my 03 4Runner. Paid $100 to get a golf ball diameter dent removed. Looked 95% better, but evidence of the dent was still there. I have since used the Harbor Freight method with good success. The key is to be patient and follow the instructions.

However, I had a big dent on my 200 series Land Cruiser, and took it to a PDR guy, as I wanted it to look as good as possible. If you don't want to pay, try the hot glue method. Only $13 at HF without a coupon...

I just read about using a hair dryer and then spraying co2 on the dent. Essentially I think the key is to heat up the surface and rapidly cool it so the expansion and contraction of the metal will pop it back into place. What do you guys think?

PDR is the way to go for door dings. I used them many times and it looks like no damage was ever done.

I have heard of the trick. The hairdryer should be pretty safe, heat-wise, as well. It is worth a shot.
