My uncles 97 T100 2.7 4 cyl 2wd has 410,000 miles and climbing. All hes replaced is the exhaust manifold and muffler system from engine to tailpipe, other than regular maintence. Its on its 2nd clutch, tranmission is all original. He has replaced a few other small parts but not many at all. And he still depends heavily on it, i really dont know how it keeps going. Especially since he just puts cheap oil in it, 10w-30.

335,6xx now with oil change last week - 5w30 Valvoline through a Wix. Still never had valve cover off and running better than ever. 100 miles/day, 7 days a week, mostly hwy, cruisin' at 65-70. Fill up yesterday - 236 miles on 10.8 gals - just shy of 22 mpg. ALWAYS 100% real gas.

    Same as everybody else...
This thread gives me a lot of confidence in my choice of trucks. I bought a 09 PR in 2015, she was well maintained by the previous owner and only had 57k on her. So far just routine maintenance and the leaf pack recall, she runs like a Swiss watch. Congrats on the high mileage OP.

This is awesome. Definitely a noticeable uptick in maintenance post 200k. Thats about the point people call it quits.

Can you give me more details about the issue you were having with going into 4x4? Just wondering if im having something similar going on. I have 4.0 09 manual. It seems to beep at me and I sometimes have to shut the truck off then turn it on aND retry it for it go engage.

Brave man, Personally I have no patience for anything like that, I've traded my 2009 for a 2017 with only 69.000 on it. Again, brave man.

This thread is an awesome read. Long live the Toyota pickup truck!

The majority of high mileage vehicles are driven a ton early in their life so the chassis doesn't rot before the miles are racked up, plus the oil is constantly heated to full temp. This is the most common way to high odometer readings. So by the time the chassis is 10 years old, the vehicle has 200-300k+ miles and well on its way to 400k+ before it's 15 years old.

IMO nearly any vehicle with decent engineering can get high odometer numbers, if the miles are done early in its life and it gets normal maintenance.

Some brands have higher quality design, engineering and construction, and their structural integrity can survive decades of normal annual mileage to achieve the high odometer reading later in their life. Advantage: Toyota. Exception: frame rust recall :(

My 2.7 Tacoma lives a fairly easy CA life and sleeps in the garage. 10 years old and just a bit of surface rust on a couple areas underneath. I fully expect to get at least 300k out of her.

    This is a fantastic post.

I'm curious as to what spark plugs you use?
I don't think I saw that anywhere in your original post.

    Im loving this post,
I would be curious to see approx cost next to each of the repairs to see a overall idea of maintaining beyond the 200k mark.

Had this been a newer model it would have been interesting to see how many sets of intake pump valves you'd have gone through.

Is this a common issue with newer ones? I've never heard of this before
