Windshield Condensation Inside

I've seen, and heard of complaints of water leaking through the 3rd brake light, and other areas on these new 3rd gens.

I owned a 2007 Tacoma before this, and I don't recall having condensation on the interior of a truck.

Is this something I should investigate, or completely normal?

Looks like you have your A/C putting cold air on the windshield..... If it's warm out side you will get condensation..... turn the A/C away from the windshield ....

 

Investigate it.

 

I get this a lot when it rains out. I need to run the defrost every 5-10 minutes or it comes back.

 

Yea, we just got quite a bit of rain here in San Diego, but it hasn't rained in a few days.

This condensation was from my truck sitting for 10 hours, from this morning, until I got off work an hour ago.

This is the 2nd time I've noticed this.

I picked up a pail of Damprid and put behind the seat on the floorboard.

 

I had it pretty bad for first 15,000 miles or so, until I had the windshield replaced...no more abnormal condensation. Makes me think original wasn't sealed completely.

 

Check and see if your floor mats are damp. What happens to me is that I track a bunch of water into the truck while getting in while raining. And then it takes days to dry out enough that i dont have to use the defroster constantly.

 

Leaving the window cracked overnight will let the moisture escape overnight...

I just posted this in another thread, but I have had this issue in other vehicles and found that the condensation occurs when you leave the selector on defrost overnight. Try selecting the floor vents before shutting it down for the night.

You probably use the heat/defrost on your way home so air in the cab is warm and dry compared to outside when you park it. As the air cools, it condenses and creates a very slight vacuum that draws outside air into the cab overnight. If you leave the selector on defrost, the humid outside air is drawn across the windshield, causing the condensation.

There has been a ton of humidity lately.

My solution is to run the heater u til it's hot inside the truck. Roll down the windows to let all the moisture escape the cabin. Then close the windows. Reset the temp to normal. Run it a min. Turn on the recirculation button and done.

This allows moisture to leave the truck and it won't condense on the windshield.

 

It's rained nearly every damn day since I got my truck (last Tuesday) and I had no condensation issues until yesterday when the sun (finally) came out. I had to let the defroster run a good 3-4 minutes to clear it up enough to drive. I suspect it was a combination of leaving the selector set to defrost and all that direct sunlight. The moisture in the ducts evaporated and when the sun went down, it settled on the windshield. Hopefully that's all it was.

 

Go to the dealership and have them check the third brake light. They are coming off the line defective and need re-sealed (covered under warranty of course). Unfortunately that might not solve the problem completely if too much water has gotten into the vehicle and under the carpets. Ours was severely leaking about a month ago and even after the fix we still have condensation. They are going to have to take out the carpets and either replace them or let them dry out in the sun for a day (which isn't easy right now because we live in Northern California and it hasn't stopped raining all year...). Running the heater will not dry out the carpets because there is a plastic layer underneath that keeps the moister in. Just a waste of gas and time. I hope this helps.

 

I have the same issue. It got to the point on cold nights the truck front windshield was iced up when I get in to drive in AM. I brought it to dealership and they cant find any solutions. Im thinking there must be a poor seal somewhere. Gonna try Damrid as many members suggested.

 

It works. I keep a 4 lb. pail in my access cab behind the passenger seat.

Only time I get this on my Gen2 is when I leave a window cracked.
