Thanks for the info matts. The gap on mine looks just like yours, I am just going to leave them alone. The more I mess with it the worse it will get I am sure! I will post some pics after I install my new Yakima Fatcat 6 on the rack tomorrow evening.

Yeah I would not mess with it. It is not doing any harm and the only person who would notice it is you. Post those pics!

Do y'all know what size and thread pitch bolts work in the roof mount holes? I'm trying to make custom led light bar brackets and was wondering! All help will be appreciated! Thanks

So far I've added an Advance folding bed cover and since removed it. Gave it to my son in Maine, he has an 05 2wd. GT perfect fit seat covers. Weathertech floor mats and window vent visors. Waag center brush/grill guard. Hose clamp tailgate mod. Turned off the seat belt chime. Added Ultra-Gauge. Trailer hitch. Softopper. Replaced sun visors with slide out style. Toyota bed extender. Had Firestone Destinations and now Michelin LTX AT2 in stock size. More mods to come; Fog lights, locking storage in bed, intermittent wipers. Now looking for Radio/HU upgrade. and maybe a lift way down the road.
I need to install a single bar on my regular cab. Someplace I saw a thread with a removable bar but the base/mount stayed in place. Can't find it now.
    Anyone make their own ?

I feel like I should revive this one. I'm putting on the OEM roof rack tomorrow and am nervous it may not sit flush, and/or leak. Should I put down some butyl tape first, or will it be too thick? I hear it comes with mastic washers but I don't know if I trust them. Thanks in advance for any tips!

I would suggest bending the front bracket downward a little. This will help close up and potential gaps on the front. The mastic washers should be fine but the front clips and the whole way it attaches is kind of a poor design. You'll understand when you see it. I also had a little trouble bolting the whole thing down as the holes didn't line up perfectly. Just make sure all bolts are in and started before tightening anything down. Good luck!

So two questions...is silicone needed? (In the thread hole or around the bolt before install). Also how are you guys bending the bracket down/which side is being bent?
