    I started on septic pumping. That's how my company determines if you're worth putting any real training into. If you can't deal with kicking a shovel all day and dealing with tons of shit water then you're not gonna make it. Sometimes you have to get in the tanks. Rubber boots and gloves and a tyvek suite. We'd do that the first time with a new guy there. The next time a tank needed to be entered we'd make the new guy do it. The look on some of their faces was priceless. Others couldn't have cared less.

    I had someone flush on me when I was in a tank once. I heard it coming and hopped to the outlet side of the tank as fast as I could... just in time to see the turds splatter on the bottom of the tank. I was so fuckin pissed off.

    Yup. I'm the "skinny plumber" so I lived in crawl spaces for my first 5 years or so. 100 year old CI that split down the seam and was leaking for months before the homeowner called us. Pools of stagnant sewer water and drain flys all over the damn place.
