Why is it that I got a recall form in the mail about Toyota's rusty frames, and I went to the dealership about it. I walked in asked them about the inspection. They asked me how many miles it had i said around 190k they said they can't touch anything over 150k. There is very few 05 Tacoma's under 180k I'm sure. Unless it was on a car lot the past 5 years. They cut me off and said there is nothing they can do and gave me a number to complain to. Is this right? Anything I can do the form doesn't say anything about a mileage limit anywhere on it. My truck still runs like a champ to I'm pissed.

Mileage is irrelevant on a recall .. that dealership is a waste. File a complaint and go somewhere else.

Yeah I figured that's bullcrap. I'm going to a different dealership if they try to pull the same stuff I'm gonna cut them off. I'm a younger guy I guess they thought I'd be gullable and go with whatever they said.

My dealership representative talked to me about the frames and recalls for at least 30 minutes and helped to educate me on the issue....Dealerships aren't perfect, but I appreciated that they took the time with me and ADMITTED that it was an issue. Toyota Mall of GA.

My 2005 Tacoma is awaiting a frame as we speak, I have 216k km. Mileage doesn't matter.

Did you get the letter in the mail as well? Also did you have to fill out the form?

Yeah I think they are being more lenient on northern states and Canada because of the salt and snow. Called 3 dealerships now they might have changed their frame replacement deal who knows.

In Canada we had until December 31st 2016 to get a new frame. It just had to be inspected by that date, mine has been sitting at dealer since late October. 8-10 month wait and they are paying for a rental (currently a Jeep Grand Cherokee limited)

No, they just inspected and said it was fine. But he told me that the way that Toyota had welded the frame together and that it wasn't one solid piece was also the cause of it. I think after 2010 they had better quality steel, and in 2012 I think they totally redid how they welded them. but check my facts on the last bit.

How do you know if you need a new frame? I have my truck service records from the dealer and previous owner. No frame replacement is anywhere on that list. I also have a 2005 Tacoma 97,6xx miles

Well that's the thing you have to get it inspected. It's hard to know if you need one or not since they won't inspect anything over 150k miles. They will inspect your truck if you take it to the dealership though

Did you get an actual recall notice, or a postcard alerting you to the pending class action suit?

If the latter final judgement will not be entered until at best June 26 of 2017--you can read more about that in this thread...

Maybe I read it wrong. It was a class action law suit post card that pretty much said I needed to get my Tacoma inspected. I'm fine with waiting half a year. If they don't fix it I'm just going to get some rust resistant chemicals sprayed on it. My leaf springs are rusted to hell and back to. I was told there is an actual recall on Toyota leaf springs too

Did Toyota extend the frame replacement/ CRC coating recall that expired in March 2016?

Had my frame inspected twice before the recall expired and it passed both times. Frame is in miserable shape.
