I have had my '17 for 3 weeks now, there have been more days in the teens for temp since I bought it with only a couple of days above freezing - I have not had this issue. I have also tracked in lots of snow on several occasions, having it melt and pool/collect on the all weather mats and even spill over on the carpet, I've not had this issue.

The only time any car I've owned has done this was when I had a leak in a door seal, I didn't think too much of the moisture on the inside of the glass and ignored it for a week and it molded over. Like another poster above, Damprid is what I used to pull the moisture out and then I replaced the seal, killed off the mold with spray but it stains and essentially there forever.

*Vehicle w/ the issue was a 1990 FJ62 Land Cruiser... loved that truck.

Did you leave the air flow selection on defrost when you shut 'er down? If so, try selecting floor vents when parking overnight. I have had this issue on other vehicles and the above seemed to help.

I believe it is a leak seal somewhere too. Thanks a lot for the response.

My defrost selector is always on, I don't think that is it either.

Not sure where in NorCal you are, but im in Central Oregon "high desert" with a likely comparable climate so you can check that off the list as well.

You should not have the problem, if changing the settings on the defroster causes the moisture to stop accumulating then it would, to me, just isolate where the problem is coming from. That would not be a solution, but a work around.

I'm not sure how living in Alaska is relevant to the OP's issue - the problem isn't the fact that moisture is freezing on the glass, it's the source of the moisture. There should not be significant moisture in the vehicle to cause it to accumulate on the inside of the windshield and freeze.

Even if this was common for people who live in Alaska, it is not common in OP's climate.

Running defrost + heat (I.e.dehumidifying the air) on the ride home should reduce water vapor quite a bit inside the cabin. As air cools inside the cabin after being parked (Boyles Law) it draws outside air in , and being drawn across the windshield of course it is going to cause condensation. Then as the windshield reaches freezing temps, it freezes. No biggy, happens to many vehicles.

I do get what you are saying, and maybe I am imagining OP's issue as more drawn out or pronounced that what is really occurring - I'm picturing completely iced over inside, and it is weird to have frost on the inside and not outside. I've also lived in OP's climate and never had that issue except for the one time I had water leaking into the vehicle.

OP, post a picture if this happens again, I'm curious how significant this is.

My concern is that if OP gets convinced this is normal and he does have an issue, like a bad seal, it could lead to mold (as in my case) - and that would suck.

Make sure your A/C is on with your heater. It acts like a dehumidifier to get the moisture out of the air and fabric.
