    Ah the smell of ether in the morning, reminds me of the 70's and carbs in the winter.

    Diesels and cold are a PITA at least until they get running. -19 isn't even really that cold.

    Oh hell I don't have the time to even start listing it all LOL. And pretty sure the Ex could add to it... But yeah that isn't abnormally cold for here. Where Rob lives though that could be considered a heat wave at times!

    Anyone have a suggestion of oil/leather treatment for a holster? I took one of mine out last night and it was a bit stiff and rough, want to loosen it up some.

    Morning, All

    So this is what getting up at 10 am is like lol . Course when you do not fall asleep till 4 am .. Serves me right for attempting to lay on the couch after eating supper ..
    So lets see someone needs to start home delivery of none ethanol fuel for less then 12 dollars a gallon. ( Might be cheaper to run alcohol and build your own still ) :} , Ice is melting in some places , Diesel engines are a bitch to start in the cold ..well plug them in like most people do, oh and a few folks think -19 is to cold . Oh and for holster Neatsfoot works or harness honey if you can find it. I miss anything else important :}

    Boots did someone say boots?! Ah no but leather....

    I would not use Neatsfoot oil on a gunbelt or holster myself. A holster should be stiff! And the roughness should wear out over time.

    First clean it, never put any oils or grease on leather before it is clean. It is like waxing a dirty truck without cleaning it first.

    Pick up a bar of Fiebing Glycerine Saddle Soap any tack shop should sell it, or Amazon. It is 100% Glycerine and that is what museums use to maintain and preserve leather. You can also use it to give your calf a good scrub down before the State fair... Use a knuckle brush and hot water and work up a good lather on the leather. Let it soak in for about 5 minutes rinse it off and repeat. Then let it dry naturally without direct heat but good ventilation for a few days. Buff it with a rough cloth like burlap when dry for a bit of luster. It will soften up a little and help take the roughness out of it.

    If I am going to use oil or grease I use Obenauf's Heavy Duty Leather Preservative or in the case of a holster if I was going to oil\grease it would use the Obenauf's Leather Preservative.

    After cleaning my guns they get a coat of Renaissance Wax Polish. The loading and unloading in the holster transfers a fair amount of wax to the inside of the holster and helps keep it smooth. If you feel the need for smoothing it more and water protection you can rub it into the outside also, it will of course smooth it even more.
