    hmmm not really if you load them up. taco loaded was 41k msrp and the 2014 LE was 42k. this was before discounts and what not. now granted the LE didn't really need any options for my use. didn't need 3rd row, sliding tray, auto running boards. compare to the taco the wife likes her features.

    highly doubtful. since the refresh they have avg around 100k for 2015 and 2016 sold.

    I've seen it. I'll keep my 2nd gen. Not a fan of the looks. Different strokes... Plus I don't need or want all the electronic crap. In fact, the whole reason we traded the 4Runner Limited for the trail is for less electronics. Even my taco has a manual T case now. What I really want is a landcruiser 70 double cab. Those things barley have any electronics.

    Most people that don't like it don't like the fat lip lower bumper. I think they look sick with aftermarket bumpers such as relentless or Pelfrey though

    you do realize the trail has more electronics than the LE. the crawl control system is the biggest electronic/mechanical gadget in the 4runner line up along with the multi terrain select.

    actually if you want no frills go with an SR5 > Limited > Trail

    and actually the only difference between a SR5 and Limited is the XREAS suspension which is mostly hydraulic.

    edit : forgot to add, LE has full time 4wd, but I prefer that for the winters we have up here. but each model has it proponents :)

    working on replacing the front bumper with a hybrid bumper. just need to wait for winter to be over and save up some funds. which probably wont happen since the daughter is getting married in august.

    No more Turd-gen :)
    After having a 3rd gen I quickly off loaded, I browsed the market for a while before returning to my dark master Toyota...
    I think the build quality and overall experience is miles ahead of the Tacoma which is sad because this was my 3rd taco...oh well bigger and better things I guess

    My addiction to bass has my backseat useless for anything. Essentially i have a standard cab with a very loud radio. If i had a 4runner i could have bass AND seats lol

    Yes, it does, but I never use crawl control, and the vehicle isn't dependent on it. Limited is awd with electronic locking center diff, and it did have ATRAC. It also had heated and air cooled seats, and powered retract steps. It had way more electronic gadgets. The trail has a nice old school manual transfer case.

    Not disagreeing (the add ons for the limited like the optional power steps don't instill confidence) but I wanted to clarify a few points. Technically the Limited is a full time 4wd system via locking center diff. AWD implies the clutch packs that a lot of cross overs and subarus use. The full time 4WD is much more reliable.

    The transfer case may seem entirely manual and "old school" but the ADD system is the same between Toyota's dial actuated transfer cases (tacos, SR5 4Runners) and the trail edition's lever; ADD actuation is still electronic.

    The biggest question mark for the TE is the KDSS system. It just hasn't been in the 4Runner long enough for real longevity to be tested yet.
