What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

He said the wheel was wobbling though so wouldn't that rule out a CB? Although yeah the possibility for a bent shaft is certainly there.

I mean if he can see the wheel wobbling..then something major is fucked up and i wouldn't be driving it at all. A simple wheel swap will tell if its the wheel or the hub/axle.

 

Depends who you are getting them from, sometimes you can get them pre assembled but otherwise yes you'll have to compress the 881s

 

Is our corner light replacement bulb a 3157?

 

my front side marker on the 03 is a 168, switched to a 194 cause its what I had.

 

Yeah luckily there aren't too many parts in the rear that could be the culprit. After work today ill have to jack it up and see whats going on. I don't think its a bent wheel, as the tire guys would have probably caught that when they were going through it. I am putting my money on the rear bearing, but we will see. I haven't noticed any major noises coming from the rear end though, really only a constant, but mild "sway" will driving hwy speeds, and now after proper inflation last night, a vibration/shake when getting up to 60+mph. So it's more noticeable now. Thanks for your help sir!

 

Eh I'd say it's only worth it if you really need the extra clearance to play in some gnarlier rocks. It's not just cutting up your truck, it's the gearing and shit that needs to go with it, not to mention the extra wear you will likely see on all bearings due to the massive BS you need to make it happen. Not for the faint hearted or those with limited funding.

 

Yeah the tire guy said it was just a little loose, but nothing to invoke not driving 'till its fixed. Not going to take his words 100 percent, but made me feel a little at ease. Ill have to tinker with it later today and see what's up. Honestly might not hurt to go through all four corners and replace key components anyways. I'm not sure the last time any of that stuff has been fixed since I bought the truck last year.

Im not worried about much of that besides the regearing. I can get some 4.56 diffs off a buddy for a few hundred buckaroos. Not exactly 4.88s or 5.29s but better than 3.91s.

What do you guys recommend for an air tank to be able to fill 4 35" tires after deflation? How many gallons? 2, 3, 4......Found a 3 gallon for like $60 with some fittings.

Air tanks don't really help for filling tires. The best way to fill a 35'' tire is CO2.

An air tank on the rig is useful only to run air tools really. Which CO2 can do as well.

The dual ARB compressor is the way to go for filling tires and air tools though if you wanna stay with a compressor. Takes about 1:30 to do a 35. Takes about 30 seconds with co2

Good to know......got the h.o. arb compressor but it took f'ing forever to fill em.

 

haha could be worse...trust me. Least you're not trying with a tiny compressor.

Thats why i love the CO2. Its freaking fast. Less time wasted on that chore.
