Thanks! I'm sure the grill and the rest of the mods will look great. I thought I wouldn't be fond of the inferno until I saw it in person and it looked awesome. I did the black inlays for the tailgate as well along with removing the dealer sticker and V6 emblem. I'm leaning towards leaving black pillar tape, removing the Tacoma's on the doors, and leaving the TRD Sport stickers on the bed.

    My opinion:
    1. Leave the black door tape
    2. REMOVE chrome Tacoma emblems
    3. ...and yes to the black TRD 4x4 decal

Question to those who "Plasti-dipped" their emblems, how did you do it without removing them from the truck?

My Daughter has a black Explorer and she wants her truck ALL BLACK !! She wants to keep the emblems but, wants them plasti-dipped/sprayed. Any pointers ?
**I'm painting her front grille next week with bed liner spray**

    Here you go:

You just tape off around them with painters tape and then add newspaper around that. If it's thick, it'll peel off the paint with no problem and it'll break at the letters (staying on letters but not paint). Overspray doesn't come off easily though. After your last coat, don't wait more than 10-15min (not let it dry completely) before removing tape and extra plastidip around letters. Once it all dries, it'll peel it off the letters too. I've made that mistake before. You can also use a toothpick to get it out from the open spaces in closed letters (A, O, etc)

Same here. There weren't too many pictures on that thread, but they look good in my opinion. They will match the set up on my truck. Black grille, black letter inserts on tailgate. Not a full plasti-dip, but the chrome/black emblem should match my stock rims for now.

If you have stock Sport wheels, they'll match really well I think

IMHO, chrome stuff on that blue pearl looks awesome. And as far as the pillar tape goes, I'd yank it and let all that gorgeous blue shine through. (The only reason I went with the super white myself, was in the interest of "marital harmony" :argue: )

    I LOVE that blue!

How are you guys removing the emblems? Has anybody had any success removing/painting/reinstalling vs plastidip?

Mine is one year old, kept outside. Is it too late to debadge?

My dealer told me the V6 on the tailgate is riveted. Can someone confirm if this is true or false? Thx

I've always had good luck with a bit of heat from a hair drier and some thin string. Then just use a sawing motion. Might leave a bit of residue from the double sided tape but that can be cleaned up easy.

    False. It's double sided tape.

That is false. I removed mine just like the other badges.

I don't think its too late. Nothing about the badge is going to change. The only thing you have to worry about long term is the paint fading normally and when you debadge the paint behind the badge will still be its original color. But at 1 year old I don't think you will have any discoloration.
