Red Wing is less than an hours drive from here, and where the factory is. Many of the Red Wing boot stores around here will oil your boots for free if you take them in. And many that work outside for a living here wear Red Wing boots and either oil or grease them with RW oil or grease.

4 or 5 years ago I was in the grocery store on Christmas Eve in a hurry like every one else came around a corner and banged into another cart driven by a lady and her young teen age daughter. I apologized but the mother never looked up and stared at my boots I was wearing a pair of Red Wing Beckmans in Black Cherry. She turned to her daughter and said I made those boots. The look her daughter gave me was priceless and made my Christmas.

Cool story Mike!! Are local Redwing store does the same. It's one of my favorite stores to shop at. I purchase 1 - sometimes two pairs of 6" #604's a year. We get Boot allowance once a year, and goes towards the Redwings. I've been wearing Redwings for 18+ years! Thanks!

So got a call yesterday from my youngest son. He is up in the cities in lockdown, to protect him from himself. After a year long battle with advanced stage IVB cancer (lymphoma) the chemo had done a lot of damage and so did the side effects. Watched Mayo Clinic save his life half a dozen times. But once the cancer was in remission he was a hurting unit both physically and mentally. They had to smack him with the chemo pretty hard, and it and the side effects did a lot of damage. For some reason over the last year after that he started to loose the will to live and on top of that decided to self medicate for his pain. Didn't take much for the Doctors and I to talk the judge into putting him in facility care.

Cancer had been in remission for exactly a year, statistically they didn't give him much chance to make it. Well it is back which is why he called me the PET scan was positive. He said he wanted to fight it again so he is pulling out of the doesn't want to live funk, it is hitting him in the face again now. Said because they caught it early maybe the chemo will be less strong this time. I didn't have the heart to tell him that once it comes back they usually have to hit it harder to get rid of it.

I emailed his mother to let her know, she has had very little to do with any of the treatments so far. I am the one that took him to all of his appointments, sat through chemo, and by his bed while he was in the hospital all of those times from kidney failure, heart damage, stroke, broken bones, shingles, blood infection, and can't even remember all what else. She replied back last night with a long email she banged out on her phone about holistic approach and the evil of big pharma and modern medicine, etc. And I should take him overseas for treatment. Of course she is now little pharma selling bull shit products with her massage thereby business. She couldn't even make it through lab tech school years ago even though I tried to help her with basic algebra. And now she knows better than the oncologists. Can't believe I was married to this person for almost 25 years. Time for me to focus on helping the kid get through this next stage. His chances of success have now dropped again and he didn't have much to start with. He is stubborn and that can be a good thing at times like this. Rant over I guess just feels better getting it off my chest. Wish it was warmer and spring I'd take vacation time and go fishing with him for a few days. And plan on it when we can again.

No beer so far but maybe later. Apparently the local economy is pretty harsh. Around $8 US for something like chap stick and a hair cut runs you $35 - $50.

This is good stuff. I use it on my fishing reels, firearms, black powder guns, rifle slings and just about anything else. Maybe it'll work as a dessert topping too.
