Yikes, yeah I need to check the grounds on mine before this weekend. My buddy has his mounted on his 4Runner's passenger mirror but I think it would just rip out of the mirror if he hit anything too hard with it. CB's are a pain, and I was thinking about just switching to a ham in a couple of years when I have more money. Everyone who uses ham radios says that CB's are pretty much dead and I know that ham radios are still evolving and getting even better than they already are. My cousin is a genius and he's a ham radio fanatic, I could probably just get him to hook me up!

camp. its way nicer and easier to crawl into a tent than stay awake for a drive home. Then let me know how it is, i want to go to hidden falls really really bad. But i want to get my air compressor installed and this weekend is perfect time for that...

I have a CB and its kind of a pain sometimes. I need to just move on to HAM it seems like less of a hassle than my CB has been...

    better questions @CarmenSanDiego :
what CB and antenna combo are you running? Where is it mounted?

and is your 4runner mostly stock?

The CB is the Cobra 75-WX ST and the antenna is a 3ft Firefly by Firestick. The mount is the Diamond K400 Hatch mount.

Currently I've got Bilstein 5100's and OME HD springs all the way around. CBI skids and Shrockworks sliders. I need to pick up a gas tank skid from either Shrockworks or C4 soon and then I'm looking to replace the front/rear bumpers as well but those will be a little farther down the line.

Onboard air? I've been considering this so I would be interested in what your setup looks like. Also my grandfather was super into HAM his whole life and I never got into it but I've heard it's far better than the CB but for now it's working just fine as long as I don't get too tangled up in stuff. I honestly think we ended up on an ATV trail and that's why everything was so close.

i heard about rust issues with that mount over on t4r.org... so i was looking to do something different...

yes, i have a arb dual air compressor 100% duty cycle waiting for me to install. with a 1gal viair air tank under it on the passenger side firewall. I need to get it installed and working, then i can figure out where i want to route the QD to so i dont have to open the hood everytime i want to use it.

When it's mounted the screws rub against the inside of the hatch and I could see that causing rust over time. We used a body hammer to make a couple small indentions so that they didn't rub and then sprayed it with rustoleum to seal it back up. I would like to mount it on the bumper, but I don't have one yet.

if i went with a full bumper i would go with the addicted offroad one. It is low profile, low weight (relative to competitors, excluding aluminum), spot for winch. Its a winner in my book.

i currently have the only 10-13 hybrid winch bumper southern style offroad had made to date.

I've seen the Southern Style bumper quite a bit, but on the 13+ like you said. A friend of ours has a 16 TRD Pro Runner and he is going to be picking up one of the hybrid bumpers for his soon.

I like the Addicted front bumper, and their build quality seems to be pretty nice as well. I bought their HD sliders for my boyfriend's 3rd gen Runner for Christmas and they seem strong as well as being decently weighted.

Made a couple of long casts yesterday evening. Caught two bulls, releasing the first one successfully. Wasn't able to dislodge the hook from the gut of the second fish. Gutted, gilled and iced it. Excellent battle from both fish.

    Bait: Cut mullet
Setup: Abu Blue Yonder 6500 / Temple Fork 10.5' med / 20lb mono

Yeah man, both were exceptional. Fished from 4:30-8:30. Caught both within an hour. I prefer not to keep oversized reds for conservation purposes but the beast wouldn't have survived if released. I proudly drove home with blood and guts dripping from the tailgate. lol
