Any of you have a weather station? I bought one that measures all sorts of stuff and have to figure out where to mount it that'll give me accurate readings. They don't recommend placing it on the house due to heat radiation and air current changes unless it way up off the peak. I'm thinking of placing it on a pipe out in the yard or on top of a post - say 8' off of the ground. It'll send the data wirelessly back to the base which uses my wifi to upload to weather underground. Thoughts?

Maybe I should see if @bucktales can drop a telephone pole in the backyard...

Put it on the North side of your house. Won't get much sun and heat radiation shouldn't be an issue

Yep, am on my second one. My first would read 2 sensors and the current one only one. From what I learned from the first one I place it in a cedar tree about 10 yards from the house and about 5' off the ground. The cedar tree protects it from direct sunlight. Although the deer keep eating on the cedar it will not be long before it is in the sunlight :-(

This thing has an anemometer, wind direction indicator, rain gage, temp, solar radiation, and some other stuff. It's an 'ambient weather' brand wifi system. The instructions say the 'ideal' location is to basically put it in the middle of the yard away from everything. Certainly won't make cutting the lawn any easier if I do that. When I bought it, I thought I could put it on the eave of the roof sticking up a few feet but...

No, there's plenty of trees. 1/3 acre lot. I have the mother of all oak trees in the front. Hickory in the front. Neighbor's have hickory on both sides and white pine... I may try off of the roof on the back of the house on a taller pipe to get it away from the shingles.

Ah that is totally different, you have a real weather station! On a pole on the roof extending at least 4' above the roof line is about the best I could do where I live. Not sure :notsure:

The lowest I remember seeing gas was $0.44 except for this one time in the late '70s when a gas station owner was selling gas for $0.25 a gallon with one catch. You had to pay for your $0.25 a gallon gas with 1964 and older quarters. He probably came out ahead in the end.
