And the easiest way to test the alternator I presume is taking it to autozone or something of the sort?

Yes, they can test it on a bench load tester. Otherwise, you can quickly test it on the vehicle with a DMM, an alternator with a functioning voltage regulator will typically put out 14-15 vdc at idle at the battery.

That moment when you realize you left your wallet at work and you're trying to pick up breakfast.
Guess I'll go work for a few hours then take a breakfaat break.

This... jump it and see what it does. Also double check your connections are tight. And make sure there is no corrosion on the wires.... Also I thought I read in a post you put new battery cables in her truck a few weeks back? Make sure ALL of your connections are tight. With a dmm if you still aren't up and running. Check your ground. A good ground is usually .1 to .5 ohms... Smack that starter a few times with a hammer. Might have to hit it pretty good. Don't wanna smash the thing but dont be scared.... @a.smo @swalters

Another good way that'll shed light is if you jump start it and it dies when you pull the cables off. If the battery is ran completely dead.(or close too) and is not being charged it'll die again.

anybody have any experience with power steering? My truck has some intermittent power steering. It's always been pretty stiff and hard to turn one handed, even the smooth spots are stiff its smooth, than a hard spot, smooth, than a hard spot. (say if you were cranking to make a tight right, or a u turn). If I keep the rpms up there isn't any of the stiff spots and I cleaned all the steering U joints, and lubricated them. I flushed the old power steering fluid a few months back, and it made a difference for a while, but it was still pretty stiff compared to my other 2 tacomas I have had.. The pump is a little noisy but not screeming, My rack seems to be in pretty good shape, no tears, and no leaks.. I'm thinking about putting a new PS pump, but don't want to just shotgun parts at it. Anything else I should be checking first that I overlooked? it's my first time doing much trouble shooting with PS. I've replaced pumps and lines and racks but mostly due to leaks.

That's why you gotta carry an extra $50 in the glovebox, homie. That, and incase you forget the wallet and need fuel.

Normally I keep a twenty or two hiding. Not sure where it is. My coworker called and brought me lunch.

I hope by powersteering fluid you mean ATF. Our power steering systems run on Dex type III. If you're running power steering fluid that is definitely your issue.

Otherwise it sounds like you just need a good flush and bleed to get the air out.

Yeah I put in the right stuff.. Even when I flushed it last time it was still so stiff it was hard to turn with one hand.

    Maybe another flush I guess?

Does the pump make any noises when turning, especially during rough spots?

Forgot to say that. She tried to have a Co worker jump it and nothing. I'll recheck everything over and start playing with the starter.
