Just a thought. My grandfather had flag pole that would fold to the ground and he could paint it ,repair etc. put the unit on that and just push it back up? I know you said something about sun and stuff but it just reminded me of my grandfathers homemade pole. It was so cool..

Not really yet. Just thinking right now. Someone made a good point as you are making the most income now than you ever have. They take the top 35 years of income to base your check off. So I need to sit down and see how much it might be reduced. I don't think it will be very much and the time away would be such a plus.
But I'm still thinking and such but the wife is having a terrible time at her work and super stressed etc. so bad she can't sleep. So if she quits then of course I can't go to 4 days. But that's ok. I'd go to 6 days if I had to to let her leave and be happy.
    Still early thinking....

Like I said he would tinker with that thing and I would help him. I think he said he made it from a tree he cut down in the back yard.. He had a notched piece of wood he would put as a support halfway on the pole to keep it waist height when it was folded down. Very inventive person.

Good morning, Friday here for me. Last night realized I have to shovel the deck off yet the deck, smoker and grills are covered in almost a foot of snow. But worth it something is getting cooked outside this weekend. Just don't know what yet.

Yeah in my case all those years ago being an E squat in the Navy wasn't making a whole lot. And looking at it now sometimes just kind of stare at it in disbelieve, and the total sum for the check climbs each year. But you do have to live long enough after retirement to enjoy that check. The great unknown. And I can testify that medical bills even with what is considered "Cadillac" insurance can be a kick in the butt. It is a tough one and is legalized gambling.

Hope things turn around for your wife soon Mike that sucks. You willing to take the load off her and putting it on your shoulders says a lot about you IMO, and her.

Free taco sounds good but not worth the trouble.
There's a new phone scam. Called asks "can you hear me?" When you say yes they record it for approval of purchases. Just hang up if ya get call.
