OPT7 LED TAILGATE BAR

HAS ANYONE INSTALLED ONE OF THESE YET.I WANT TO BUT IT IS PLUG AND PLAY TO THE 4PIN CONNECTOR ON THE TRUCK BUT IT COMES WITH A SEPARATE WHITE WIRE FOR REVERSE THAT HAS TO GET WIRED TO THE FACTORY TOW PACKAGE WIRING.I DON'T KNOW ABOUT TAPPING INTO THE WIRES ON A BRAND NEW TRUCK.THE OTHER THING THAT BOTHERS ME IS THE PLUG WILL ALWAYS BE STICKING OUT OF THE TOW PACKAGE HOUSING UNLESS YOU WIRE IT WITH CONNECTORS TO THE WIRING BEHIND THE OUTLET.WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

I would find the harness under the bumper and splice. But I do low voltage for a living and dont mind that kind of stuff. And yes....no yelling.

I added the recon white fire tailgate bar years ago to my truck. Came the same as above 1white and the 4pin. I just went and got a 7pin trailer connector wired the 4 pin to the correct electrical blades and the white. Plug n play. Get some dielectric grease so moisture and dust will not affect the plug.

where do you get one of those that you can get to the inside and wire the bar to it? every one of those I have seen are one piece and you cant get inside them.

 

I THINK HE MEANS WIRE THE 4 PIN HARNESS TO THE 7 PIN HARNESS THAT IS ALREADY INSTALLED ON YOUR TRUCK IF YOU HAVE THE TOWING PACKAGE. FOLLOW THE DIAGRAM @Broccoli PROVIDED. YOU SHOULD'NT HAVE TO TAP ANYTHING.

 

Op, you should install a couple of bars inside the cab, point them at yourself, they'll make you brighter..yes?

 

You can tap into your 7 pin, or what i was trying to say was go to napa or autoparts store and grab a male 7 pin trailer connector that you will wire yourself usin the above diagram. That way the factory wireing is not spliced and you can unplug the bar for a trailer etc.

i just bought one of those connectors today,thanks for the info,oh the diagram you are showing me is that the colors and pins that are coming off of the truck wiring?that's what i need if it is.gonna match the wires from the bar to the correct ones off the truck but i wanted to see if someone had the wiring diagram off of the truck.

 

Well we know your reverse is white,
And u will have to check your 4 pin for which is left right and brake, then transfer those wires to the 7 way.
Diagram wire colors may be wrong, just use a 4 pin diagram and the 7 pin diagram to wire it up.

 

that looks good,thanks!!! I justr ordered the light bar so i am waiting for that to come in.looks like when you install this light bar it will cover some of the cut out where you crank down your spare tire.

 

Yes it will, you can probably get away with just notching the plastic out around it tho. Ill still post pics for you tonight.
