Thanks for all the holster care suggestions guys. At first I was just ignorant, now I am confused...

 

Ya'll have me thinking hard on this again...I've mulled it over and I think I've about decided I'll work 'til at least 67, if not longer, as long as my health holds. I'll be 52 March 9th.

I've had two older friends, who I respected and thought the world of, that died unexpectedly within 6 months of retiring. One in 1993 at the age of 65, and the other in 1998 at the age of 62. Those losses hit me very hard and have left me a bit worried/superstitious of retiring. I'm purposely staying in my current "worker" level position, versus the mgmt jobs I've been offered, because I feel I can stay in it for the long haul without too much stress.

Don't know why, but felt like rattling out my thoughts.

 

Good morning gents and Miss Susan. Susan do this, Now for the gents, will you please turn your head and cough? HERNIA! Had a surgery consult yesterday, not something I wanted to do on my only day off. Now waiting for the schedulers to call and let me know when I go under the knife,

Not all that bad. I have had two Inguinal hernias yes both sides (I'm an overachiever sometimes) two days after the surgery are a little rough. after that it's just no lifting. I was told I could go back to work the next week, but work kept me out for 6 weeks.

 

That sucks. Dr said when mine happens it'll be on right side.
Already had an abdominal hernia.

 

Thanks. I more worried about just sitting around, I don't do that very well.

 

Shave yourself real good. I had a "guy" that enjoyed doing it. Wife laughed her ass off.

 

Me neither. Sharpen knives. Clean guns etc.

Yep, I'm not saying anything there...just bored and passing time. Slow shift.

 

IMO leather care is a lot like motor oil, in the end it boils down to personal preferences and experience. I tend to apply a science based approach to things, in the end does it make much difference? Likely not really a few more miles that is all if that. I think every single one of the suggestions are good ones, there isn't a bad one. I'd pick which ever one you want and run with it. If you don't like it can always switch later.

Back in the 70's had a pair of Herman Survivor boots, they were kind of a gold standard back then. Used to cover them in mink oil and throw them in the oven to bake the oil, which is more like grease, in. Then about 20 years ago everyone came out and said mink oil will destroy leather and it is bad for leather. Last year I got tired of looking at the Herman Survivor boots, the heel was too narrow and those white soles were hard as a rock and slippery as hell on anything wet. Wore them for years though and baked them in mink oil on a regular basis. When I gave them away must have been 40 years old and they looked like new and had a couple thousand miles on them. Come to find out I could have sold them on ebay for a couple hundred bucks they are a collectors item for some. Like I said not sure there is a bad choice.

 

Yea. Wife was outside yelling for me cuz dogs had a young coon trapped. I was watching police videos and didn't here . Now she's getting ready to haul coon to animal rescue.

Ouch

While replacing a bent spindle , the brake assembly dropped and the abs wire stretched and broke. When I replaced it, I added a switch so I could disable the abs off road and in certain conditions (dry road, cambered curves) abs is good to have but gave me a good pucker a few times when it wasn't needed.
