WS transmission fluid is garbage . Get it out of your transmission now

I did a TOTAL Flush and Fill with AMSOIL Signature Series ATF Low Viscosity ,will need about 15-16 Qts for a total Flush. Would not hurt to add some Lubegard Platinum Transmission Additive and Dr Tranny Anti Chatter fluids too ! I Did, runs better than new and I also Flushed and drained my Rears Axle with Amsoil Severe Gear 80W-90 Rears Axle Grease ! and 1Tube of Anti Chatter Additive , Either LubeGard or Amsoil Slip Lock too !

 

I have 48,000 on my 2010 TRD Sport. Scheduled Aamco to install a

$62 Hayden 679 Universal 11” Rapid-Cool Add-On Transmission Cooler to Enhance Cooling (not for direct replacement of the factory unit)

Hayden 679 cooler and convert to synthetic ATF. Hopefully that will keep it cooler pulling my travel trailer.

 

What do you guys say about this product, I saw a bottle at my mechanic friend's shop. You can only buy it a worldpac and napa, says fully synthetic Made in japan by nippon. He puts this in all the cars for drain and refill also.

Lots of talk about trans fluid flushes but little about dropping the pan replacing the filter?

That's important to do Round 100k miles I'd say

 

I bought a /CASE/ of WS fluid for my wife's Sienna. I did the first fluid drop at 60k miles and the fluid that came out looked new. I'm almost to 80k miles and will probably do another drop at around that time... Can someone give me a TL;DR of why not to use WS fluid? I plan to go through the case I have (two more drops ??) before I start buying another brand of oil... so far sienna has shifted great... My 08 Tacoma uses atfIV iirc, and it also came out super clean when I did the drop at 80k miles.

 

Mass hysteria.. Seems most arguments point to how easy it is to overheat a trans and WS inability to stay stable once overheated. I offroad and finally flushed with WS and installed a trans cooler @120k miles, all seems well.

 

Well, I CONTACTED Valvoline Support and here is what they had to say (I will be buying enough Valvoline to completely flush and replace my tranny. This response is good enough for me):

I would like to know how many gallons I need for the flush. I read anywhere from 13 to 17 quarts. So should I get 4 gallons?

 

I bought 4, but truck only took 3 gallons. Nice job emailing them.

I hope this helps lay the issue to rest and everyone is comfortable knowing they can use the Max Life and Valvoline stands behind it.

I will by three gallons and give them to my mechanic. I bought a filter kit from RockAuto. My truck has 164k miles, I changed at 100K. Dealer ship says first change at 100K and every 50K after now. So they say....

Not trying to stir anything up, and I would have no problem swapping fluid with the Valvoline, but there is a difference between "compatible" and "certified". Compatible does not have much of a legal standing and any vendor can use it and define how they like. Again, no issue with Valvoline, but make sure you understand what you are getting and that you are good with it.

 

I'm sure there will be many opinions, but the fact that Valvoline Support stated in writing that it would not void any warranties is a bold statement. Good enough for me from a very reputable company with a fine engineering staff. Everyone can do what they want to do with their trucks. Personally, I am satisfied with the support from Valvoline and others that have used the Maxlife product with not apparent issues. Some seem to indicate that performance increased modestly.

Your point is moot since Toyota does not certify any fluids.

Just use the Valvoline or Toyota WS, either one works!

For the previous poster remember that its Totota that decides if warranty is affected and valid, not Valvoline.

 

was there any consensus to this thread? has anyone noticed anything really bad happening while using the Toyota fluid? im at 100k on it right now. everytime I check the fluid at the dipstick, it looks perfectly red and clear to me. im glad @Sandman614 had good results at 120k.
