Cold Air Intakes... good or bad??

Looking at upgrading to a cold air intake on my 04 tacoma 3.4l v6. Anybody experience problems with mass air flow sensor fouling?
By most accounts, K&N is best choice. Feedback?

i'd skip the expensive cai and do the deckplate mod........dyno proven........and only about $15.

 

Not familiar with that. Please tell me what that is

 

its a deckplate, like you would find in a boat. you basically cut a hole in the front of the intake, and screw the deckplate housing to the intake, then you can screw the deckplate in or out whenever you want to(i leave mine out all the time).

I had a k&n i liked it for awhile then switched over to the trd cold air intake. I like the trd alot more. The k&n messed with my sensor a couple times but the trd nothing at all and it sounds great but they both seem to pretty much the same to me.

 

I know someone on this board that put a cai on his truck, one that was low out in front of the radiator/condenser and he, gulp, sucked in water and ruined his engine. 11k mistake! I still think the only cai that I want on my truck is a Safari Snorkel!
