Probably closer to 12K. just under 12K is private party value...while dealer retail is a solid 14.5K..

That's what I'm thinking. KBB says 14K-18K for excellent condition from a dealer.

Reading through the service history I see this at 81,000 miles in 2013:

PERFORM 26-POINT INSPECTION OF VEHICLE. ADVISOR WILL ATTACH TOP COPY OF FORM TO,FRONT BRAKES ARE 9MM, REAR BRAKES ARE 5MM (SHOES), ***TIRES ARE 10/32***, WATER PUMP STARTING TO LEAK COOLANT, RECOMMEND NEW TIMING BELT ASN WATER PUMP ,, WATER PUMP - REPLACE, C0V-INSPECT & REPLACE SPARE TIRE CARRIER - TACOMA

WATER PUMP - REPLACE ~|~ ~|~ ~|~CUSTOMER DENIED SERVICE - NO REASON STATED

The next service is march 2016 at 100,000 miles when the frame was replaced and the brakes were done.

Neither the Carfax nor the Toyota Owners website has any indication that the water pump and timing belt were done.

Would this be something to be concerned about? And how would I be able to tell if the engine was damaged from neglecting to change the water pump?

Probably was a small leak and he thought, "F it....going to just wait for the timing job". Maybe he didnt have the time or money at that moment.

Or had a friend do it for them.

I guess my question is would this have caused any damage I should look out for? I have only owned 4cyl tacomas and pickups so I'm not up to speed on what to look out for with the 6 cyl.

Coolant leaks and bad valve covers. Check inside the reservoir and radiator for sludge. Also look through the wheel wells at the freeze plugs to make sure theyre not leaking. Ive had a few start to corrode

looks pretty clean to me, that price is similar to what you would find around here but with more miles.

12 year old truck in clean condition. The price shouldn't skyrocket just because the frame was replaced, it should be on the high side because it's not rusted out.
For the price they're asking they better be doing the timing belt and water pump!

Negotiate. I wouldn't spend more than 13K but it really depends, those are highly sought after + new frame will carry a premium.

I think it looks pretty good OP. 14k does seem kind of high, but thats some low miles and a fancy new frame...

I'm also talking to a guy in MA with a similar truck, only 90k miles and timing belt water pump done at Toyota. New frame done in 2011. He's sending undercarriage pictures on Tuesday and asking 1k less. I like that the one in CT had its frame replaced recently, but the dealer doesn't seem to be that easy to work with.

That is a sweet looking truck. Though... what dealer sells a truck that needs a water pump and timing belt? I'd say either you make them fix it first or pass. Or at least get a much better deal.

I expect repairs from private party sales. But from a dealer? It better not have existing issues.

Take it for a test drive. Then drive it to an independent repair shop and ask if they'll inspect it for you.

I like that negotiating tactic, mind if I steal it verbatim?
