some of this, a little of that
Meh, a refresh or redesign probably means the end of the 4.0 and the introduction of something like the 3.5, that is the exact thing that drove me from a Tacoma into the 4Runner

By the sounds of what everyone's saying, they might go a different route. I mean- they sound like they're splitting paths in terms of quality and parts. maybe they'll change everything

The 4runner pro has a shorter wheelbase than the tacoma? And i know how important line choosing it. In kauai we have red mud, so it's impossible to judge the depth of the hole you're going through. Very important to pick wisely

    I wasn't aware of that difference between a T4R & Taco.....another win for the T4R.

It sounds like either the third gen tacoma sucks, or the current 4runner rocks. Wow! this is news. Until today i thought the tacoma was a 4runner with the back chopped off

now i have myself questioning if i need a bed. The tacoma is still a good car though, right? Won't both be an upgrade over my 99 runner?

As sexy as the T4R's are, I love my tacoma!!!! I have a 90lb German Shepherd and when he gets filthy and muddy and wet, all of that wet dog smell and mud is safely contained in the bed (I bought a cap for the bed just for him). No mess no fuss.

We had the wire frame cargo separator in our Subaru Forrester and while the shepherd would stay in the back the pitbull would slither between the grate and the wall and end up in the back seat.....not to mention drool and muddy paws on the seat backs at the corners where the grate was. For me personally, a truck with a bed is the way to go with big messy dogs....but to each their own.

Now that sounds handy. I had a dog. After he passed never looked for another dog. If i did get a dog, i'd love not having a wet dog scratching my seats!
Oh yea, my 4Runner definitely a 4 wheel drive. I've turned it into a sweet trail rig, it's just the problem is i supercharged it. Things are aging much quicker than a normal engine. I already replaced the headers and gaskets. Next time the bottom half or the tranny will go. Not too much life left in it. IMG_5337.jpg

How many miles are on your rig? I bought my 2013 with the intent of supercharging it and then the factory SC'er was discontinued so if I go down that route I'll get the identical Magnusson blower but without the Toyota warranty. I might reconsider if it's going to half the life of my engine though....

My engine has 145k miles. I had to replace the Head Gasket, Headers, and some seals because the extra boost. Also installed a transmission cooler as it was running hot. Don't get me wrong, it is cool- it's just a pain in the butt when things start having problems
