Okay it doesn't get added in but needs to be taken into account for your lift since 24.5 is max travel range Hub to fender and your at 20" stock on second gen and all the suspension components are the same on gen3 except for springs up front which raise the vehicle to about 21" Hub to fender than that is a 1 inch factory lift since everything else has not changed since gen2 so adding a 2" spacer on gen3 is only technically a 2" lift over stock but is 3" in the travel range adding in your stiffer springs into account so yes your full droop is taken into account in that sense now both gens are at 23" giving 1.5" left of droop which should not be exceeded on a 4x4 due to stress on cv's and generally a rough ass ride like hitting a pothole your suspension can't dampen as well with only 1.5" left vs 3.5" of downtravel

I see your logic and I get it but, its ridiculous.

Just because the 3rd Gen is taller out the factory doesn't mean it has a factory 1" lift. Its stock, period. The Pro has a factory 1" lift. When I put a 2" lift kit on my Tacoma, its a 2" lift over stock, period. It's not 3" lift because the 2nd gen is shorter...

By that logic the pro is stock as well lol it comes from the factory like that! Dude I get what your saying but your not taking into account the rest of the suspension so if the same size spacer is put on both 3rd gen and 2nd gen the third will be higher and blowing cv's and harder to get aligned wearing parts and tires faster even though both have same lift but you have to take into account the spring on the third gen being higher than second it's that simple so you are right in saying yes 2" lift on third gen is what it is but taking into account the higher spring rate it is technically a 3" lift over a second gen vs just putting that spacer on a second gen it would only still be a 2" lift

Not really the Pro has a completely different suspension than all the other 3rd gens and are marketed with a 1" lift....

    Who gives a shit about 2nd Gen...irrelevant....

    have a good one.

It still has the same suspension components like ucas and swaybars and has same full droop measurement but whatever your impossible to talk to good day I welcome someone else to come prove my point.

I'm running 888's with 5100's set at 0. Just under 3" after settling. Hybrid bumper from SSO at about 150lb bumper with winch, plus 80lb of weld on sliders. This is on an Access cab which is about 100lb lighter. You can view my full set up on my profile. Hope that helps.

Anything over 24" , hub to fender, will essentially be a pogo stick.....boooiiinngg..

23" is a happy spot for these trucks...anything more and the ride begains to degrade.

Chris taco 2016...I totally understand and second what your saying. toytec did a write up explaining this exactly

If it were me and you want 3" of lift with a bumper/winch bumper I would do the 888 coil AND a 1/4" top plate spacer. That is what I have and it will net you nearly 3.5" in the front, so the bumper should drop that about 1/2". I'm intending on putting a low profile front winch bumper on. I went with the soft ride 90021 strut because 90% of my driving is still realistically on the road and I didn't want it to ride like a tank for that 90% of my driving.

I somewhat agree......I wouldn't do over 3" of lift.....unless you mall crawl......a 3" suspension lift is really about as high as you want to go to be able to still have off-road practicality. My front measurement is right at 24" with a full OME kit, but it actually rides a good bit better then stock. I wouldn't go any higher, but at 24" hub to center in the front the truck rides like a dream. Of course I also have lots of sidewall on 17" wheels vs folks that put on 20" wheels with skinny tires.

    Absolutely! Thanks!

This sounds like the way to go... I think I'm going to start out with just the 888 OME coil and the 5100s (since I'll be doing lift, wheels, tires at one time) and then maybe add the top plate spacer when I put the bumper / winch combo on

    Thanks for the help guys!!!

See how it sits with the 5100's at 0. If need be, you can set the 5100's to the second setting if you need more height or get a top plate spacer like you said

I bought an OME kit, which comes with all new shocks, coils, Dakar Leaf packs, u-bolts, and everything else you need. Basically you're pulling off every bit of the factory suspension and completely replacing it. OME sells full kits with all you need. I also replaced the upper control arms which is nearly a necessity if you're going to be running bigger wheels and tires and don't want rubbing.

which actually raises another question.... which is the better option.... set the 5100s at the second setting or get spacers?

dammit. just when I thought it was all figured out..... :help:

I would avoid spacers. Preloading the coils is not optimal but I would go that route. I had my 5100's on the second setting for quite some time before I installed the 888's and had zero issues.

Looks great! Wondering if your running the full leaf pack with the 3rd leaf still? Also did you have any vibrations after doing this? I assume you're running the center carrier drop as well right?
