I wasn't alive yet. I do live in the hometown of Lt Col. Michael P Anderson but that isn't relevant until we get to the anniversary of Space Shuttle Colombia

Had that day off and turned the TV on to see it. Crazy seeing it unfold live.
I was still bummed out that the Pats lost Super Bowl XX two days before.

 

Home sick from work. Zonked on Nyquil, I couldn't quite understand what I had just seen. Took a couple of replays for it to sink in.

Everyone remembers were they were on 9/11/01 also.

This and 9/11 are events that are burned into the memories of Americans as they had a profound effect on the country as a whole.

 

I'm old enough to remember where I was on Nov. 22, 1963...

 

I was in class when it happened. When I picked my son up at the babysitter, the babysitter pointed at the TV.

 

Remember that most 21's and under don't remember 9/11.

I was sitting at home watching the launch before heading to campus for a class. Think it was a 400 level finance class.

 

Working as a car stereo installer. Heard my coworker say "the damn thing blew up!" My boss, who was very much a prick (think Stan from Office Space, Jennifer Aniston's boss) was visibly troubled that day. I thought he was just being his normal fake drama queen self, but that night it hit me big. At 23, it was my own first realization that we're not infallible. I know there were more before that (Vietnam, Watergate etc) but I was too young to fully grasp those.

 

Working at General Dynamics, Pomona. Went out to the car for lunch, never had done that before, and listened to the radio for a change. Man oh Man that was a hard day.
We were all excited about the Teacher going into space.
