That is awesome, glad it turned out! I am not that worried about the BHLM, but I am planning to install some HIDs also, that is the part that worries me. I haven't done an HID retrofit before and cannot find anyone locally to do the install.
    Anyway, congrats again, good job!

the 4th bolt is circled in green. Make sure to take that bolt out and not the one below it circled in yellow. Found this out the hard way

Thanks for the write up!!! I just changed out my headlights this morning. I was able to reach the drivers side "annoying ass bolt" with my left hand/arm reaching through where the grille was, back, up and under the headlight assembly. Saved a little time not going up through the fender. I was unable to do this for the passenger side because there is some metal piping in the way. Also, does anyone know what the part number is for the black push pins that hold the grille and those little trip pieces below the headlights in place? There are a total of four that needed to be removed, and every one of mine broke. Pissed me off real good. :(

Great write-up, I was able to find that last bolt no problem. I'm gonna need some of those push pins as well. A couple of mine are just MIA but what really pissed me off was that I broke one of the clips on the bottom of the grille. Anyway, the actual lights came out great. I was hung up on which aftermarket brand to get and then I stumbled upon some used OEM's on ebay for about the same price.

Nice improvement. Good call on staying OEM.

Swapping out mine tomorrow! Not gonna paint them though. Thanks for so,ithe info on swapping then out. One question is, I have a Ranch hand grill guard on mine. Is that Hanna affect me taking the grill and headlight assembly out?

I'm not familiar w/ that grill guard. I googled it, and it looks like it's designed to protect the headlights. The grill pulls straight up, so that should be fine. Not sure how close it comes to the headlights, but it may interfere when you try pulling the headlights out. Hopefully the design allows for enough wiggle room to get them out.

I have a good 4-5" clearance from the grill guard to the headlight. It might be just enough room to get it out. Thanks for the response

Looks like it'll be close. I think you'll be able to manipulate it somehow though :) Post up afterwards!

Waiting on fog lights to get in. Then swapping them out. My lenses on both the headlights and fog lights are cracking from the inside out. Toyota said there's no recall on them so the bill is on me if they fix them.

And I sure will post some picks after install of headlights them with the fog lights swapped. And probably by then I won't be playing in the mud and have it washed as well :)

Thanks for this write up. installed a set of DEPO headlights with the black housings. Waiting for it to get dark so I can aim the headlights. I also sealed the beams with clear silicone to prevent moisture and glass coated the lenses so they stay new looking for a long time. Very happy with the look.
