I also want one big enough to put a turkey in. We've hosted Xmas dinner for the past few years and I want something to be able to put a 15+ lb bird in. That seems to be a bit of a chore for anything but the largest ones (38"+)

I bought my old Masterbuilt smoker over at their warehouse here. They gave the city fire/EMS dept a discount for "scratch and dent ones". Ended up with a brand new propane one for $50. I used to smoke a turkey every Thanksgiving in it. I'd put it on the morning I came on and it would be ready about 0730-0800 the next morning just in time to take it home.

Noice! Smoke Hollow seems to have a nice propane unit.

That said, the 30" electic Masterbuilt gets good reviews on Amazon. While I was looking there was one left at $157 + $6 shipping. 15 minutes later it was gone and they're $181. Oh well, prolly too small anyway.

Hey @medic2230 how long did your propane tank last when you were using your Masterbuilt? I could be talked into going that way if necessary.

 

I never changed the tank on that entire smoke for almost 24 hours. I can't remember how much we used it after that before it ran out. We used my smoker as a grill also. I kept it at the station so everyone used it.

 

Thanks for the info. I figure at $1 an hour it's close to a wash with the electric smoker.
