Thanks for the info Johnston! I'm more of a desert runner/ mall crawler. I'm interested in the either the 3/16" steel or the aluminum skid. This is my DD and I don't want to beat on it like the way I use to do to my car which is now a garage queen.

Did you ever get your pods going and/or bought at least? I can tell you from experience that having amber pods (ditch/dust lights) helps TREMENDOUSLY!!!

I have pretty much made my decision going with Icons, but just to have it so that I know that I have better capapbility than I do now. With that said though, that last high speed desert run really WAS my last. If I find myself in a group wanting to do something like that then I'll caboose it for sure or if I find out ahead of time that they plan on doing that, I just simply won't go. But from my experiences so far, they always end up doing it no matter what. Just not into beating the shi* outta my rig like that as I gotta use it as basically a DD as well and gotta keep things like that in mind. Plus, I don't have that kind of money like others do. I'm more of an explorer type anyways.

Man, everytime I park my truck at a shopping center, get out, start walking away, look back, and I'm just like... "I F'N LOVE the way that thing looks..." Truck porn just sitting right there in front of me, LMAO!!!:rofl::rofl:

I lead a group through a trail I've been on before down in Anza (really the trailhead is in Julian) and it's called Mason Truck Trail. The trail is definitely 2wd doable, but from "top/down" (i.e. going DOWN the mountain trail... going UP might be challenging for sure for 2wd rigs). Anyways, that I know of, they liked the trail? Here is basically what the trail looks like. High clearance is definitely a nice to have for some spots as well, but just as long as you choose your line well, there shouldn't be any issues?! There was only 1x spot on the trail that caught me by surprise because it most definitely wasn't there 5-6mo earlier the last time I was there before this trip that I lead. (see the pic) Other than that, it really is no harder than what you see in my small vid clip that I made. I plan on going out there again for sure and hopefully before summer??? LOL, depends on my job situation!!!

The picture really does NOT do it any justice because that was a fairly nice "drop off" for what it was, LOL!!! That damn thing wasn't there a few months before this so I was like, WTF!!! o_O Steve did a wonderful job guiding us down it! But yeah, totally agree in that I like exploring and looking at nature. No need to rush life in my humble opinion!!!

I have my single amber CaliRaised pod and still need to cut and bend the material i plan to use for the bracket.Going to try and do the bracket this upcoming week.Still need to get a switch and have one of you or someone knowledgeable help me with the install.

Yeah i remember you talking about the Icons. To relate to you and some it up for myself i'm the minimal list in regards to needing to go fast although i like to on occasion.I like being in caboose mode.I'm more of the type who likes to enjoy the scenery and go with the flow during the time.I remember some time's out while wheelin with some of you all and others where there were situation that some of us seen and enjoyed the territory while others were like, what are you talking aboutLOL!They were blasting through areas and didn't notice.

And last but not least it's only natural to stop and look back! We're guys!Even if it's our trucks and not other things i don't need to necessarily mention!LOL!

Hi Randy! I've been well. We just got back from a lacrosse game at Cal State Channel Island. I ran in to ham's brother Tommy. It was a beautiful day.

On a side note, I bought Gatorade to add to the cooler I was taking to the game and the helpful Honda people stopped us and helped us put the Gatorade in the cooler.

Just let me know when you need my help Ron?!

Regarding speed, I've found that my type of wheel'n, I just don't care for the speed. On occasion, through some of the washes, but another trip I was on, I found myself only going so fast and that was it. I just don't care for high speed runs very much, if at all. I LOVE getting LOST in nature during the daytime or during the nighttime, if you get my meaning.

This is one of my all time favorite pics, but I don't remember exactly where this is other than in Anza/Ocotillo? But this is what I'M TALK'N ABOUT!!! It was so cool just cruz'n through the canyons and stuff!!! LOL, I need to get my other antenna finally up!!!

I went to a casino wearing my chain wallet. Was there for hours. The arena wouldn't let me in because they claimed I could swing my wallet around by my chain. I laughed. Went to the bathrom, removed the chain and stuffed it in my boot.
