Need a hand to instal a winch in Pelfrey bumper

Anyone got time on a Tues or Wed to lend me a hand installing a winch into my Pelfrey bumper in San Mateo or I can drive to you.

Gladly fire up the grill or buy lunch.

Or is there a mod day coming up?

 

Too bad it's not a weekend. I'd give you a hand with it.

If you wait till next week I'll be up there for the whole week for Instructor Development. I'm down for getting my hands dirty after sitting in classes all day.

 

Is the Pelfrey already mounted? Is the winch prewired? pm for more info. I'm only a few miles from you it appears. And I have a burning curiosity to see the 3rd gen with a naked front end...

 

If your anywhere near downtown, you could rent a cherry picker or a hand winch lift from San Mateo rentals. In case no one is free Tuesday or Wednesday.

No problem in waiting till next week.

Yeah Pelfrey is already on the truck but it's aluminum so not too heavy to take off and put back on. Winch is Warn VR10000s in the box.

hilift with the slider attachment makes it easy, no need for that big stupid thing. Hilift on the hoop, regular jack on the bottom and back the truck up.

 

Used a floor jack and a piece of wood. Steel bumper, so some brute strength was involved. It was 3 years ago and I don't have much of that left. Going to use a neighbor to help with the dead lift portion of the install.

 

whats up, I can always swing by also if you need an extra hand, since I live a block from bel mateo bowl.

Proved that three minds are better than one when it came to where and how to mount the solenoid. Thankfully I was able to cannibalize a L bracket off the shed attached to my house (that now needs to be replaced today). Used one of the existing holes in the bracket and drilled another. Then drilled a couple holes in the bumper and stacked a couple washers between the bracket & bumper because it didn't quite sit flush. Also @otis24 had the great idea of putting some "cushion" between the solenoid and the bumper so I used some 3M tape and a cut section of mtn bike inner tube. Made for a very solid mount and fit perfectly under the @Baja Designs S8 light bar.

@Toynado I was wondering who owned that Taco. I was wondering what you were all up to. Drove by a few times with the wife doing errands. I live around the corner from you. Planning to get the same setup for my 2nd Gen. I know where to go for some help! We should grab a brew or hit some trails.
